musical suggestions needed for 30's/20's themed event!
Having just been dropped from a very high height at the last minute i am now urgently trying to find suitable tracks for my DJ to play at a 1920's/30's themed burlesque event
Im after more modern sounds but with a 20's or 30's feel rather than actual 20's/30's songs (i have plenty of those!)
Ive just discovered the wonder that is max raabe and have various modern interpretations of happy feet (ive downloaded the kermit the frog version!) and the like but need more!!!!!
can any of you lovely people help a gal in distress?WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

The Squirrel Nut Zippers are modern with a 1920s vibe (though I might just think that cause they have a song called 'Blue Angel'!). They're damn good though.
Also the Bonzo Dog Band do some great comedy songs based on that period - very colonial ('hunting tigers out in India'... etc)
Plus, I bet there's a whole bunch of Noel Coward covers going around...
Creme uses a lot of Spike Jones (again, comedy) to get that 1920s vibe.
Hope this helps x

See if you can find any Bix Beiderbecke CD's or downloads. Really creates a 20's nightclub atmosphere.
