Introducing myself ...
Hello! Stumbled across this site whilst searching for Burlesque events in/around Bristol and have been lurking for the past couple of months. Have found masses of great links re fashion/make up/hair etc, and finally decided to take the plunge and sign up!
I am not a Burlesque performer, and have never seen a performance as yet, but have for hundreds of years loved all things glam, corsetry, 1920's, 30's, 40's and 50's. Being out in the sticks somewhat, and being a horse owner, most of my friends prefer to be wearing a fleece and I have always been "overdressed" in comparison to my friends! It is only in the past year or so that I discovered this whole world where people discuss and love the stuff that I love ... don't know how I managed to not discover it all before!
Have uploaded a [not terribly good] photo of myself ... cos it's always nice to put a face to a person's written ramblings! The grey stripe in the front of my hair is mostly natural! Having covered up my grey for a long time (I started going grey in my 20's ... am now the grand ole age of 43) I decided to allow the natural Mallen stripe grow through at the front of my hair ... it's enhanced slightly but essentially is all me!
I was previously misguided and thought that a lot of the clothes I wanted to wear was restricted to the very slim ... from reading threads here I have discovered plenty of online places that cater for my more curvy frame! So, a big thank you to all you lovely people for posting links to various websites.
Anyhow, I hope to be able to contribute some day myself, but for a while yet I suspect I shall be a sponge and will simply be soaking up bucket loads of information!!
So, in a nutshell, that's me.
Looking forward enormously to being a small part of this wonderful community. Ooh ... which reminds me ... having read a few threads in here, it has to be said that you really are a wonderful community. Incredibly welcoming, friendly, forthcoming with advice and sources ... amazing.
Thanks for reading my drivel so far! Don't know if this is in the right place or, indeed, if it is protocol within MOB forums, but felt I should write a brief intro.
PS ... CountessB ... A friend "purchased" the title of Countess for me a few years ago, and B is for Beverley. Would have just used my name, but thought I should have something a bit more interesting!WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Hey there fellow Bristol babe

If you're still looking for local Bristol/Bath nights the next upcoming one I know of (other than MoB tonight in Bath) is Coco Boudoir in Bath on Jan 30th... but Tuesday Laveau also puts on the Be More Burlesque nights in Bristol, not sure when the next one is.
It's really worth while friending Coco and BMB on MySpace so that you can keep up to date on their next events as threads often move down the page quite quickly on here so it might be missed.
Hope you get to see a show soon!
