I'd been thinking of Joanie Rose for a while - my business is named "i heart joan" after the singer Joan Wasser, I just think that Joanie is an adorable name...
...and then for my last name I picked Rose because it's a bit of a classic, and it's also after my rosy cheeks

I put a post on here with a few bits of information about me and my burlesque persona, and an idea of what type of name I wanted. I had been wracking my brains to the point of implosion!
Thankfully the very lovely Pixie Parasol came up with Raspberry Ripples and I instantly fell in love with it!!
It is practically perfect in every way, just like Mary Poppins, whom I met at Disneyland a few days ago, not that I am name dropping or anything

haha everyone has great reasons for their names, I think mine is slightly lazy in comparison.
My first name is Sara. My fiance's surname is Kelly, but he loves everything german (aside from nazis) and we joke with him and tell him he should have been called Von Kelly.
And so I adopted his surname which I will be getting in a few months anyway (
) and threw in the Von in homage to Dita Von Teese, Kat Von D, Beatrix Von Bourbon, etc.
Also my partner is Canadian and has a thing for nurses and the VON was the Canadian Victorian Order of Nurses which you only have to mention to get him het up.

I was trying to think of a name and it was one of the ones on the list, others on the list didn't sit right and it was the one I kept coming back to so I kept it. Burlesque due to my love of burlesque and gangster (Al Capone style) and doll due to loving my barbie when I was younger and it being a gangster slang for his lady.
I only now get a lovely man who understands the love of burlesque and gangster (who really loves the suits they got to wear) recently and loving every minute of encouragement I get.

My name needed a lot of playing around with and I had a lot of ideas, I liked twinkle because that was the first pet and tried playing around with names like star to go with it and stuff relating to that, but twinkle/star was a bit too common so from the twinkle in came cloud/skye instead, after lots more playing around with different combinations, I found the name celeste with went really with the general theme (also really like the name) so 'celeste de la cloud' was born, 'de la' means 'in the' so it's like celeste in the cloud, I posted a thread on here to get opinions of the members and then the name was finalized, I honestly love the name so much, a lot of thanks to the beautiful rose de vine, who spend a lot of time searching and helping me with celeste.

Mine was a homage to my friend, as she's called me Lala (or woo woo!) for nearly 20 years! And Rouge because I sometimes have red hair...

Mine isn't actually my forum name, Ruby Blue is the name I use on all forums, my stage name is Nikita B...
I used Nikita when I was a stripper and my married sir name begins with a B and so does my husband's first name which is why I have an ornate B tattood on my right front shoulder. He helped me pick the name, it's a bit ambiguous but I like it.
Nikita B...
whoever you want her to B...Last edited by Ruby Blue; 02-09-2010 at 10:23 AM. Reason: typo

For me picking a name came pretty naturally.
Heroine- I've always been a sucker for women in old movies, sexy yet elegant, kind of out of this world- so a regular femme fatale movie heroine
, then again this word has also edgier side to it which i love! (the edgier side, not the heroine itself haha)
Black- stands for everything edgy, unknown, dangerous etc.
So there was no writing down different ideas, choosing what sounds good together, nothing like that. It was just Heroine Black all along
