Default new showreel type thing-opinions much appreciated!

Just put together a showreel thing to send to festivals. I know it doesn't look incredibly professional, but any opinions would be really gratefully recieved. Sorry, can't work out how to add it to this though I know it's possible, but here's the link.

    Thanks,

Hiya, two thoughts both related to people not knowing you realising about your talents on seeing the showreel.

I wonder if you actually need an opening graphic albeit with not too much for people to read but saying something like "Nara Taylor Queen of the Night and Heavy Metal Pete - bringing opera and sideshow cabaret together" or something. I just wonder if a signpost like this at the front will let people know what you're doing when they see you holding the mic in the showreel.

Also please forgive me for being thick, I'm assuming that that is you singing the habanera from carmen? Ignore me if you think I'm being an idiot, because if it is, why not have a graphic at the start saying it's you for peeps like me who don't realise? Otherwise you're in danger of underselling yourself, if people think it's just a backing track to get round licensing laws. I might be talking out of the back of my head though - I just think sometimes you have to make things blinding simply for people. If it isn't you, then I just wonder whether it might be nicer to have some of the original audio from the clips actually being heard so that people can hear how good you are?

Otherwise I think it's a fab showreel and I'd love to see you two in the future!

    Thanks for your reply!

The audio from one of the videos is really awful, which is why I've used a demo over the top (which I'm also not happy with!). But I think you're absolutely right that people might not realise that it's me singing, which is a pretty important part!

Thanks for giving your advice, I'm going to sort it out right now if I can xx

So that was you singing?? No, I didn't realise either.
Maybe you need to point this out, somehow.

I did enjoy watching though, a good dark show that doesn't take itself way too seriously.

Aha-so glad both of you have said that. I never would have thought of it!

Tempest Devyne is totally right. I assumed this wasn't you singing as there was nothing to indicate that it was. Secondly I was frustrated by the lengthy clips of you using a microphone with no sound with nothing to indicate what you were doing - singing, reciting limericks, telling dirty jokes?

I think also it could be half the length - use shorter clips that fit to the musical choice.

I've included a 'vocals by Nara Taylor' bit at the beginning-not sure if it has come up though.

Hopefully soon I'll get a collection of videos with decent sound soon (the ones from Number Von Son have perfect sound by the way-thanks NVS!).

Thank you for the advice Kittie!
