    Default need some loving advice!

    when is burlesque NOT burlesque!

i dont want to go into too much detail but im angry and confused...and sort of in fear of biting the hand that feeds me..if you get what i mean..

...basically "lap dancing" is part of burlesque???????....something i have strong objections too, so much so i am debating in whether i continue to or not!

but i dont want others girls been led into believing that its the same as....pm if you want to know more, its not about any perfomer or promoter though as everyone i have met have been absolutly lushious!

    n.
    • A literary or dramatic work that ridicules a subject either by presenting a solemn subject in an undignified style or an inconsequential subject in a dignified style. See synonyms at caricature.
    • A ludicrous or mocking imitation; a travesty: The antics of the defense attorneys turned the trial into a burlesque of justice.
    • A variety show characterized by broad ribald comedy, dancing, and striptease.

no, lap dancing is lap dancing....

Definitely not in the same league, I would go to a Burlesque show, I would not go to see a lap dancer.

I, personally am not against either form of dance,
but imo, burly is a far classier, intelligent & beautiful art-form, whereas lap dancing seems to fill a need, but lacks the soul of burly.
Lap dancing is purely about sex, burlesque obviously encompasses so much more.

I also have no problems with either lap dancing or burlesque, in fact I went to a high class gentlemens club in birmingham for my 21st and found the girls to be wonderfully entertaining and intelligent....it's just a shame that 90% of customers there seemed oblivious to this.

For me lap dancing and burlesque are just two genres of erotic dance. It's like comparing classical music to rock. One is more 'respectable' and 'classier' but both are good and deserve respect.

I get the feeling (correct me if I'm wrong) that someone has been pusing you into more sexual performances. Don't do anything you don't want to. Set the levels of nudity and the style of dance you are comfortable with and stick to it.

Sadly this is now the norm up and down the country; in most towns that have an adult industry you can find 'burlesque' being taught in conjunction with lapdancing, pole dancing, and conventional stripping. I am very very pro exotic dance in all forms, but I don't want to see burlesque being taught by women who have only got experiene of these industries. Neither do I want to see a conventional strip routine done simply in 'retro' lingerie and have it attempted to be branded as 'burlesque'.

I think i may know what you are talking about- the same "burlesque classes" that invited me along to dance at a class and then asked me to do a "burlesque lapdance" for the girls.....
