Evening all
Hi everyone, I have been browsing the forums for a couple of days and have decided to join and say hello.
I'm a newcomer to the world of burlesque and at the moment, I am just enjoying reading, researching and taking it all in. I'm hoping to get to a couple of shows or performances soon, particularly Slippery Belle and Dr Sketchy's Liverpool.
I would love to learn more about Burlesque in the practical sense but can't afford classes at the moment...plus I don't think I'd ever have the bottle to get up on a stage and reveal myself (physically and emotionally) - I really admire those of you who do that! I may buy the MoB DVD and see how I get on...although my new little kitten would think I was nuts if I started practising in the lounge
I have watched some of your performances on youtube - to name a few i'm loving Beatrix von Bourbon's Hey Bellboy, Fleur du Mal's secret agent and Buck Fasts dunken sailor, I hope to watch lots more soon (but my other half occasionally wants to use the laptop, damn him!)
Well im gonna carry on browsing the forum and try and upload an avatar
Hope to speak soon

Maybe to be free physically and emotionally apart of have lessons of an artistic discipline, the first thing to do is find in yourown your motivation to do it... To me this is like scream or like breath... Is something more strong that every shame...I need it, I need to express my vision to share just a moment or a simple word with music...
Good luck

As someone who is not necessarily new to burlesque, but who is new to performing, I would heartily recommend the MOB Burlesque for beginners DVD. Even if your not considering performing, it gives you so many hints and tips, and is really fun to follow. Plus it feels like good excersise! And no, I'm not being paid to advertise it, I have just had a lot of fun with it
