What to expect at an audition, how to prepare?
I'm auditioning for Dames Aflame next Sunday. I have almost no idea what to expect, but what's the worst that could happen? They say no?
I'm getting my headshot and some other photos printed out from a costume session I did a few months ago.
I'm a little worried because I have been an actual stripper for 9 years (I'm 27) and plan to continue stripping and I have breast implants (they're really nice, though!) and there may be a prejudice against these facts. Is this a valid concern?
What can I expect? How else should I prepare?WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Trouble is, auditions for burlesque troupes are pretty rare in the UK, which is where most of us are based, so there's very little help most of us can offer you >_<

I don't know anything about the troupe or show you refer to, but if it is theatrical burlesque then in my experience, I would expect that those making the decisions will be looking for:
Attitude:
Personality - Individual character
Face - Smiling countenance and alertness
Interested in new ideas and belonging to a team
Aptitude:
Ability to sing, dance or move
At least some sense of physicality and timing
Ability to create and respond to ideas
A physical look that suits their character/performing style
If it's more of a Pussycat Dolls thing, showgirl revue or such rather than 'burlesque' per se, then they will probably be more interested height/weight (uniformity of body shape and features), dance ability and malleability.
Regardless of which, they will want to meet a confident and fun person.

The first piece of advice I give when I run "Preparing for Audition" workshops is the most important:
Remember that you are auditioning from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave!
Another good bit of advice that a lot of performers seem to forget:
Every performance is also an audition! - You never know who's watching.

just try to enjoy yourself and have fun, and not to be negative in anyway, but if nothing comes of it, at least it was good practice for the next one!
all the best and keep us posted!
