Are some moves too stripper-esque for burly?
When I'm working on a routine, I tend to avoid some moves that I feel are too stripper-like for burly as they are too obvious and not teasing enough for burly.
Do other people think that some moves are too stripper-like for burly?WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

I think it depends entirely on the context of the story and/or character. It can be hard to define what 'stripper' moves are. Afterall, the variety of strip tease burlesque performers and their styles means that some are more blatant than others.
Devising your own act means that you decide. If you think its neccesary to the piece then go for it!

It ain't what you do it's the way that you do it!
That's my take on it!

Thanks for the replies. I did wonder if it was just my perception.

I think it's all in the message your sending out, strip has more of a sexual overtone and is more seductive, whereas with burlesque is less personal and there's nothing on offer.
Now and then I see ex-strippers doing the same act they're always done but with tassles or pasties on, presumably thinking that burlesque was just some kind of limited striptease.
