Sorry to post yet another thread about fans, but i couldn't find the answer on any off the previous ones. If anyone can point me to one i may have missed that would be great.

I have recently brought some plastic stave fans and wanted to have a go at making some bamboo/wooden ones myself. I am buying some 2ft peacock feathers and i was wondering if the staves should be of a particular length or size for these feathers or i risk breaking the bamboo.

Also can you layer the feathers ie glue 2ft ones on the bamboo and then glue another layer on top to get a double layered effect.

Lastly do you generally have one short and one long layer or two layers the same length for thickness.
