Dita coming to Bristol and the associated fallout...
Some of you may have already heard that Dita Von Teese is coming to Bristol (though I am not sure it has been 100% confirmed).
She will be performing at a private event at the Museum and Art Gallery, a council run and funded attraction - as such this has caused controversy on the BBC's article -

ooh i am so there!!!
love dita.
few comments to this 'equality' woman? surely equality and womens rights mean the right to choose, if a woman chooses to strip, why is it demeaning?
and also, just because she is removing her clothes, it isnt an art form, wel she clearly has no idea of the preparation and work that goes in to her shoes... perhaps this woman needs to do her research.
gosh the ignorance of some people!x

The lady needs a good square meal to put the colour back in her cheeks.

Always be honest with your clients, if you aren't they'll have false expectations of you and there's nothing worse for business than a client who's been sold some magic beans. Even more so when all they wanted was their picture taken.

I didn't mean it like that, but am impressed by the level of implied smut and so intend to roll with it x.

I find Dita just a bit manufactured for my taste, basically because she is manufactured. Former pin-up and fetish model thrust into the world of burlesque, exactly the same way Betty Page was. My stock question to Dita fans is this: Take away the expensive props, costume and sets, what do you have? A model? you decide.
There is no doubt the her management and promotional team have done a great job in raising the profile of burlesque to a mainstream audience, but basically it's the american style of burlesque which is less popular in britain where we tend to prefer satire and parody (which is what burlesque was all about in the 1800s). Now I don't want to start an argument with all the Dita fans out there because I've absolutely nothing against her, I was even talking to Ivy Paige no less, who has met Dita and even she's a fan, even though Ivy's work is very different to Dita's xx

you wont start an argumement with me darling, i respect your opinion.
you are right in some ways i suppose, i do love her but i love her for all those things you mentioned, the expensive props and costumes.
as for betty page, i love her photos, i think she was a superb model, however having seen a few clips of her dances and wasnt wowed.

Betty Page was really made her name as a pin-up model, she was already very famous before she started her buresque career which short lived. In truth I don't think Betty was fully committed to burlesque, it was probably just to extend her worldwide exposure along with a couple of dodgy films she supposed to have made. Sadly, probably because Betty herself was 'being handled' throughout her career, she pretty much did the whole tragic hollywood style life of several failed marriages etc before disappearing from public view altogher. x
