Would like to check...
Evening ladies,
I have a few ideas in my old noggin about some new acts, I've done some online searches (including youtube) for similar acts already about but thought I'd ask your lovely selves incase I have missed or over looked anything or anyone! Before I start to invest in costume and develop the dance etc..
Okay so the acts/ideas are as follows;
1, A Regal/Orangutan/ 'Jungle book' mash up!
2, Reverse strip to any Jackie Wilson songs
3,Eastenders/ Pearly queen
4, Cinema usherette involving mucho popcorn.
I would like to apologise in advance if this is one your acts, like I said I have done some searches and not found anything alarming. This is just a puliminary list even if there are no similarities about at all, I may not go ahead with some or even any of these ideas. But even if you have been working on ideas similar to this yourself I will drop it completely as I am fully aware that I am a fledgling 'newbie' and would never dream of imitating or treading on any other performers toes!
Thanks in advance you beautiful people XXXWARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Hi Mama,
1 - Katy Kamikaze has a Jungle Book routine to "I Wanna Be Like You", there's a thread about it with a link to the video on here. I've also heard the song used by at least two other burlesque acts, unfortunately can't remember the exact names at present.
2 - There's a performer called Reet Petite who performed at The Wet Spot who does an act to the same song, but I don't know if it's a reverse strip or not as I was backstage at the time
3 - Lil' Miss Chievous has a Barbara Windsor act which references Eastenders
4 - Tallulah Tempest has a cinema usherette act, it definitely involves icecream and may involve popcorn

hey hun, Like honey said, i do a Jungle Book routine in which I am 'queen' of the swinging jungle, mixing the whole royalty and jungle book thing.
Reet Petite is on facebook, as are the other gals i presume, so it may be worth messaging them to ask about similarities.

That said hun, don't be put off if someone else is doing something similar. I think you should totally research it and make sure that you aren't thinking of doing exactly the same thing and go from there.
Let's face it, almost everything has been done before, your next move should be to find out how to make your "version" different - the music, the theme, etc.
I do a hula dancing act, I am not the only person in the world that does this, however (as far as I am aware), I am the only person who does it to the music/style/theme that I use. And everyone and there mum's has a mermaid/sailor/fan dance act >.< Doesn't mean that they are all the same and in fact the variety is what keeps all of this interesting.
So don't be down hearted. Do some research, take the info from the ladies above and look into those other acts. You may well find yourself saying "well, that's nothing like how I was planning on doing it at all!", in which case, what's to stop you?
Good luck!! And I for one think the world needs more usherette acts!!

I'm sorry for any anxiety that this post may have caused. I will in no way pursue the 'Jungle Book' act nor the 'Cinema Ushurette' as I am now fully aware of the fabulous established acts on this theme already in existance.
I have messaged Reet Petite and Lil' Miss Chevious to discuss any cross overs and to see if my own ideas can be changed to eliminate any similarities.
Back to the drawing board for me for the time being, however was wondering if anyone performs to anything by Anthony and the Johnsons?

Sorry to go a bit off topic but I would LOVE to see a performance to Antony and the Johnsons although their music does make me weep a little sometimes like watching slushy films. I want to perform to 'cripple and the starfish' one day (i love lyrics 'happy bruisy' its how trapeze makes me feel and i've just started again after being told i shouldn't anymore a few months back)but it'll be on my little low trapeze.

I love, love, love him! I was thinking a silent movie style fan dance to 'hope there's someone...' or to 'river of sorrow'
