Vanity Lair - Beatrix Von Bourbon
Just switched on Channel 4 and have caught the last 15-mins of Vanity Lair - basically a reality experiment where some people, including Beatrix Von Bourbon, compete to enter a house inhabitated by a group of 'self-declared beautiful people'...
I got that blurb from the digital telly guide (I wasn't sure what I was watching, but recognised Beatrix...)
Does Beatrix win...ooh the suspense is killing me...

"Beatrix thinks her beauty lies in her tattoos and piercings"
Good one.
My general responses to VL are going to be rather reserved as I have a contract to keep to.
As for the tears - sheesh! I just wanted to go home and get back to normality! I wanted a cuddle from Matt and a banal conversation without any pretences!
...I don't think the PMS helped my case much either!

Just watched this for the first time ( 'cause Beatrix was on it) and am really glad I have never watched it before. What a load of horrid shallow people and what a strange concept for a show! You get to stay in if you're ' attractive' enough???
I'm SO glad you didin't fit in with those people, Beatrix!!

Ahh, I forgot that was on today - I wanted to watch it because of Beatrix but I was out so missed it. I did watch about a minute of it a couple of weeks ago because I knew it would feature Ms BVB at some point, but I didn't know when - I had to turn over because everyone annoyed me.
Everyone who's anyone important knows how much you rock anyway Beatrix - and I think "reality" TV is always a dodgy thing to get involved in so I think you're better off out of it!

I'm guessing this is the reality programme you mentioned a while back
I'm scared to post just in case you wanted to limit the number of viewers, but as I missed it this morning I just peeked on Virgin's 'on demand' list and its there so I can have a look tomorrow. Probably on 4OD too in that case

The editing was so transparently manipulative!!! It is a real insight into the lie that is TV. The manipulation began almost immediately with the information they chose to reveal about each contestant.
Then the coverage time for each contestant was unbelievably biased. The language used in the commentary was clearly geared towards grooming the audience with such ridiculous lines as 'sickly sweet' Nah!! You were just being genuine and polite like any reasonably socially skilled human being would be in a new situation.
The images they chose to portray were also clearly manipulative. Anyone who has seen or read any Charlie Brooker knows how easy it is for the editors to tell the story they want to tell.
To be honest babe you came out of it with dignity and grace and this programme actually reveals a whole lot more about the nasty underbelly that is the media machine than anything else.
Big hugs,

Here Bloody Here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vanity is repeated again on saturday morning at some point.
But lets watch Mad Men on BBC4, It's a 50's drama based on an ad agency by the creaters of sopranos and quite witty and urbane.
Less than can be said for the naration on vanity.
As soon as that tatoo intro was announced i fucking knew it was out of context.
Beautiful Bea full of Grace and Dignity even in a house of horror and media manipulation.
Love you x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x hugs and bumps x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

As mentioned, can't say much, but I can say that tranquil and calm was what I was going for! I've never been one to enjoy boozing it up and embarrassing myself publicly (although, it has been known to happen occasionally - whoops!).
So much I'd love to spill, but must bite my tongue.
Candee - you're a gem. Thank-you.
And as for Charlie Brooker, that man's so razor-sharp on screen. I must find out if he's as cutting on a day-to-day basis!
