Why I Have To See Kitten on the Keys
My wife and I had set our hearts on running a Burlesque night on March the 16th. All we had to do was make a call to the venue and it would have been set in stone - then we got a text message from Heather Sweet and everything changed. The highlight of the Christmas 2007 Candy Box was booked for the same night in Birmingham.
Angel and I were aware that a new Burlesque night needs lots of space to attract an audience. We would never dream of running an event the same weekend as another show, so imagine our reaction when we heard that Kitten on the Keys would be performing at The Glee the same night as we were planning to run our show. All of a sudden we pushed back our night and made plans to go see that crazy woman and her keyboard.
For those of you unlucky enough to miss both Candy Box Burlesque shows featuring Kitten on the Keys I shall try to explain who this mad woman is. I guess the short version is that she is an attractive woman who can play a mean keyboard whilst busting out some of the craziest and most suggestive songs ever - whilst we have all heard dirty limericks this talented woman creates whole songs out of double entendres, or she just goes all out with pure filth.Kitten may be an American woman but her humour is far more dangerous than the comedy Hollywood has hoisted upon us. A good place to get an idea of the talent on display would be the Kitten on the Keys MySpace page. This lady has a way with songs that had Angel and I in stitches - I laughed so much it hurt, literally. I don’t feel that a couple of 15 minute slots on the Candy Box can do justice to what this woman is capable of, so Angel will be racing back in the middle of the night after perfoming in Manchester the night before in order to watch this show and I will be queuing up early again on the 16th to get a good seat for a visual and aural treat that we are unlikely to experience again for quite some time. Angel is working the night before, and it will be a late night, but she is getting a coach through the night to be back in time to sleep and get ready for the event.
I’ll be her pony boy. Arf arf!

I met her after her first appearance at Candy Box - she is as much fun off stage as she is onstage.
Also, for those who haven't heard it yet - check out the Tassel Time interview with Kitten on the Keys.

Hmm, I hope it is only a small amount of merchandise - I shall go bankrupt otherwise! Worth it though.

So - who else is comning? Are you dressing up or just going casual?
I'm going casual probably - because I'm lazy! But I'll probably queue up early for a good seat (and a chance to heckle the Candy Box ladyboy during his support slot).

I'm still working out what I am going to wear.
Deciding between John Steed or me "Rod" look at Yankee Doodle Candy.
By the way people as far as I'm aware tickets to the show are still on sale, so please go get one!
Lets show Kitten how much we LOVE HER!!!
