Burlesque name
I know this comes up quite often but please help!
I've been hoping that my burlesque name would just 'come to me' and keep running into the obvious issues (mainly not wanting a name too similar to any already out there and that I like.)
My favourite (Ms. Dixie) lasted till I did a really basic google check which presented me with the wonderful Ms Dixie Evans. No other name has stuck with me. (Although was tempted by Ms Loki - until the boylesque Australian dancer popped up)
Although been toying with Ms **** éveiller. Just can't come up with a first name.
Would really welcome any suggestions/help/anything.
How does Ms Dixie Eveiller sound? or Ms Esha Eveiller...... You know when the more you think ,the worse everything sounds?:WALLBASH: I need some balanced input!WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Hmmm I am on my second glass of wine so as I progress to my third I shall put my thinking cap on.
Eveiller means to wake up. Are we going with something related to that perhaps? Not sure what mind you... I'll go pour that third glass :-)

.... third glass says Esprit d'Eveiller ? It would (very loosely I may add) translate to Spirit of Awakening
I prefer the option of making sure your name goes with your on stage persona tho, and I don't know what yours is. And if the translation of eveiller was what you were even going with, or just the sound.
Let us know. It does come up often but we like christening people with their burly names so we don't mind :-)

Hey chick! I know how you feel! I performed not long after taking classes so had to think a name up but I hate it now and want to think of something else!
Are you wanting the illiteration of E E or just anything that sounds good with it?
It's hard thinking up burly names as people seem to go for similar ideas and it's difficult to be original! I shall pop my thinking cap on! xxxxx

I actually like my normal name (Anna Fox) but I'm going to create an alternate persona, merely for tax dodging purposes :twothumbs:

I used my own name for years (Keri Spring). Its such a rare surname. I love it and even got my husband to take it when we married :-) I changed it in recent years for non-pub type gigs as it allows you to create more of an on stage persona

The alliteration thing I'm not bothered about (just seemed to pop into my head, as so many things do
)
Eveiller just seemed to appear when randomly translating words looking for inspiration and I kinda liked it.
My stage persona is still evolving tbh. But am leaning towards the classic 40's style although I do love skits and joke/twist routines. I have a chicken and an egg thing going on. Need to perform more to get more of a feel.... but don't want to end up with a name that is too close to other peoples and treads on toes....and need to start seeming more professional......and nothing say's 'I know what I'm doing' like a name.
I do like Keri Spring- what a cool name to see on your id :-)
I promise not to steal them crimblefairy but have you had any luck thinking of a new name?

Hee hee! Fear not I've not had much luck! I used 'Miss Star Dust Syron' previously which now I really don't like! My cousin suggested Scarlett Valentin because of my red hair but a lot of people use Scarlett and my hair isn't very red, more auburn. My other half keeps coming up with useless suggestions that generally involve boobs i.e. Fairy Von Boobs..... thanks dear! Yeah it does seem to spring to mind using 2 letters the same. What particularly attracted you to Eveiller? Was it the way it sounded or does it mean something to you? I have always hoped working with foreign students I could nick one of their exotic names but we haven't had anything very exciting! xxxx

Not knowing your stage persona can cause a big problem. I picked my name right at the start when I assumed I'd be going along a darker route than I ended up taking. I was planning to be dark, sultry and slightly gothic, so 'Flower of Evil' seemed appropriate. Of course, as I started performing, that kinda fell by the wayside because the persona I ended up developing was much more 'me' than the one I had in my head. I went down the cheesecakey comedy route and the 'Mal' bit didn't seem to fit any more, which I was a bit worried about, because I thought if people knew what my name meant they might expect something different to what I was performing. So I changed the translation; now if people ask what it means I tell them 'Bad Flower', which makes it sound more like it means naughty rather than full on evil, so it's a bit cuter ^_^ Now I'm actually trying to go back along the glamorous route so I really don't know what to do! I think I'll just stick with it and stuff it - I like the sound of my name and that's all that matters!
So the moral of the story is: let your name evolve with your routines rather than picking it straight away, otherwise you might end up with one that doesn't fit - BUT if that happens it's not the end of the world ^__^
