Roll up, roll up, welcome to Candy Strips. We are a travelling cavalcade of delight, conceived in Leeds with global aspirations. We aim to create and curate fantastical burlesque themed, vaudevillian events to raise your temperatures and the production values of modern tease. With one eye firmly surveying the past we are a phenomenon informed by history but with a truly modern agenda and aesthetic, don't expect a rehash of what's been done before: our acts, staging and manifesto all celebrate modernity.

IT'S HALLOWEEN

On the eve of the 28th of October prepare your mind and bodies to be spooked, haunted and even appalled, we have quite a show for you.

To celebrate Halloween join us in this beautiful, gothic, Victorian building where friends: the living, present and of course those not of this earth can enjoy an evening of things that go bump in the night. Prepare for a journey through the macabre, light into darkness, a show and an assault on the senses, you will be scared but also entertained.

Dress Code: DRESS TO KILL OR KILL YOURSELF. Prizes for the worst dressed.

Get in the mood: There will be a fully licensed bar for the event: you can imbibe a choice of Absinthe, Champagne, Red/White Wine & selected spirits.

Expect…..the unexpected/we promise at least 4 hours of props, perversions and productions/venues selected for their unique heritage, delightful décor/a sensual reception of nibbles and drinks matching the theme of each event/strong attention to detail/national & international acts/atmospheric soundtracks adding layers of sensuality to the conceit of each event.

Madame Galina: Prima Ballerina

Madame Galina was created by variety performer and writer Iestyn Edwards. Her show “Ballet Star Galactica” has been touring since 2001; and recent appearances include the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Wilton’s Music Hall, the Blackpool Grand and the Baxter Theatre Cape Town. She is an entry in The Rough Guide to Choreography book and her Channel 4 “Whirlwind Guide to Ballet” has been twice broadcast worldwide. She has toured four times for Combined Services Entertainment to outlying military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Miss Betsy Rose
Starlet on the international Burlesque scene and one of London's most prestigious headline performers. Not just a classic beauty, but a trained professional dancer, Betsy delivers only the highest standard of performance to her spellbound spectators. From Paris to Berlin, Milan to Monte Carlo, Betsy has graced the most glamorous of stages, and appeared in music videos, films and commercials. With her black velvet locks, porcelain white skin and a figure reminiscent of a bygone Hollywood darling Miss Betsy Rose will whisk you up into a vintage flurry with her elegant, sultry and dramatic routines.

Tom Baker: "International Man of Misery"
Compere, accomplished singer/accordionist, and international man of misery Tom has graced nearly every stage on the UK cabaret circuit. fronting his show band The Bohemianauts, (recent gigs include Ignite at The Royal Albert Hall, and a stint as house band at the legendary underground Piano Bar at Glastonbury) and often appears as his alter ego H P Lovebox - the tentacle-faced crooner from beyond.

Meg La Mania
Is the UK’s premier sing & fling performer - her stunning voice will knock you sideways before she even rolls a stocking off.
Using her background as a classically trained singer and LAMDA award holding actress, Meg creates character led acts that go from heart-rending to show stopping in a single breath. Whether channelling a lovelorn stargazer or brain devouring zombie, she will leave the audience open mouthed and begging for more!

Zirkus Der Grotesken
Are a decadent duo of circus freaks. Drawing on backgrounds in performance art, professional circus training and classical ballet, they create darkly delightful circus shows incorporating fire, a bed of nails, broken glass, stilts and stunning aerial performances. Zirkus bring a macabre twist to traditional circus skills….an intense cocktail of charisma and technical ability, blurring the line between spectacular and grotesque.

As a pair, Zirkus Der Grotesken utilise their wide selection of varied skills and inventive costuming to create intensely breath taking stage shows, alongside interactive street theatre style installations and an assortment of beautifully twisted, larger than life walkabout characters. They have performed in Italy, Germany, Holland, Ireland and all over the UK.
