Default Anyone interested in writing regular articles about Burlesque for an ALT Website?

    Hi there

I run the Black Flag - Alternative Music & Culture Web magazine (- Welcome to the black Flag).

I'm looking for people interested in writing articles about Burlesque for the site. These can be event reviews, interviews, news, anything you want.

I'm looking to get more Burlesque on the site, but I'm a bit out of touch with the scene now (I used to run Burlesque events a few years back).

So if anyone would be interested in contributing drop me a line, either on here or via steve@theblackflag.co.uk. I also offer free event listings on the site if anyone wants to submit events.

Thanks for taking the time to read this

Not wanting to be a downer but just how alternative is much of burlesque these days!? Or are you going to be focussing on the truly alt few?

I think Burlesque is still alternative. OK so there has been a certain amount of commercialism as a by product of that dreadful film, but thats the way of the world. If enough people get into something it will achieve a level of commercialism. My readers are crying out for Burlesque on the site. And I'm trying to give it to them

can I ask why you are focusing on the alternative? Isn’t the true meaning of burlesque satire/comedy alongside beauty and elegance with the talent aspect as a given?
Not just whether you can blow smoke rings out your bottom and swing from the rafters?
(I can do neither of those by the way) xx scarlet

There's nothing in the original post to say that it will specifically focus on alternative Burlesque - just that it is for an Alt website.

The alt was pure assumption on my part (possibly incorrect) that an alt website would be more interested in alternative performers and performances rather than the more mainstream/commercial glitter and glam types.Apologies to anyone I've offended with this assumption :/
