With the plethora of talent currently impressing audiences all over the world, let alone talents of yester-year, it's nigh-on impossible to name just one favourite.
Dirty Martini's charisma floods a stage, oozing light-hearted wit, shrewd observations and 21st century sex appeal.
Diva Hollywood is always pushing her own character's limits, playing with pace and expression within her acts to create narrative pieces that are truly and utterly her own.
I worked with Rod Lightening at a couple of shows in March and April. His boylesque is fresh, full of humour and utterly wacky. I get the impression that he has an imagination as expansive as flat-packed furniture.
I adore the acts that Agent Lynch is creating, merging burlesque striptease with the up-beat atmosphere of 1960s gogo dancing. Her unique take on the art-form is captivating and I can't wait to see the pieces she creates over the coming year.
Round my list up to a pleasant number - 5 is neater than 4 ;p - I'll finish my list with Anna Fur Laxis. While she's been performing burlesque only since 2007, she's taken to the artform like a duck to water. She juxtaposes her saucy characters against innocent audial backdrops and invites her audiences to join her for an adventure. Her acts are neat, developed and precise, full of passion and down-to-Earth integrity.
Gosh. I've so many favourites, I'd like to list all of them and elaborate... but then that'd be a little self-indulgent. Other favourites that immediately come to mind:
Kitten on the Keys, Miss Jezebel Express (my favourite fan dancer - utterly overlooked IMO!), Michelle L'Amour, Vicky Butterfly, Lord Dashwood, Warren Speed, Leyla Rose, Missy Malone, Amber Topaz, Ophelia Bitz, Dusty Limits, Kittie Klaw, Red Sarah, Fancy Chance, Ruby Blues, Siren Stiletto, Keda Breeze (all the performers who've graced the Hot Muffins stage so far: Honey Lulu, Missy Macabre, Trixee Sparkle, Millicent Binks, Chrys Columbine, Cherry DeVille, Ivy Paige, Amelie Soleil, Vendetta Vain)... and on and on and on!:excited:

I think I'll reign mine in at three, even though there are so many (in no particular order)
1. Michelle L'Amour - she's flawless, enigmatic and just downright fabulous
2. Dusty Limits - I would kill to have an ounce of the talent that this man has in just his little finger - bring your one man show to Scotland, Dusty, immediately if not sooner!!!!
3. Missy Malone - homegrown talent who is always a joy to watch

They are not in an order as I couldn't choose between them.
Meg La Mania: a voice and body to die for
Anna Fur Laxis: absolute cheesecake cutie
Dirty Martini: (can't say it any better than Beatrix) amazingly talented

Missy Malone always sticks out in my mind, she was one of the first performers that I saw at my first burlesque show and I think that she's phenomenal.
Kitten Von Mew is one of my favourites too, and she's so lovely to talk to!

Eliza Vestris, The Western Brothers and G&S :genius:
Vesta Tilley should definately get a mention too. Red Sarah and I both love her.
Admittedly, it will be a bit hard to interview any of them, though a ouija board might work....

I'd travel far and wide to see Missy Malone perform. Dirty Martini is an inspiration to us all. Kitten on the Keys absolutely rocks my socks and I adore her. Leyla Rose is devastatingly gorgeous and moves beautifully. I love Beatrix Von Bourbon's wicked grin and sense of fun. And although she's not done anything for a while, I've always loved Lily Dumont's beautiful and expressive face combined with her ability to really tell a good story.

Indeed. Tilley has been an enduring symbol of female independance since her days as a Music Hall 'male impersonator'. She was a royal favourite too - she even performed by royal command at the first Royal Command Performance (now known as the Royal Variety Show).
Also, do read up on Eliza Vestris as she too is an inspiring female pioneer from almost a century earlier.
