Red face Oh Dear - A Burlesque Faux Pas

Gulp - I'm guilty as sin of adding 11+ years onto the age of a very popular Burlesque performer. I'm so glad I didn't say anything when I met her, I'd have felt a right spanner!

    ops:

Anyone else nearly dropped a right clanger?

In what form did this faux pas occur if you didn't say it to her face?

Did you say to a friend 'Blimey, fancy Miss................being ........ years old! Not long till the bus pass then'? and it got passed on?

Surely you know that a woman's only as old as she feels, but it's best to keep your hands to yourself?

I have to confess to mistakenly asking unpregnant ladies about their due dates several times during my life - and I really really should know better ops:

I once went over to say hello to a well known performer. Except in my drunkeness it was just a member of the public with the same coloured hair. Wouldn't have been too bad but then I asked another performer if it was her.... I don't think she was too happy about it!

I was lucky - I was thinking of saying "you look really good for your age" but I chose not to - good call after my poor judgment.

Lol - My default state is with my foot in my mouth. Especially with my worse then average memory for people and names.
Not burlesque but spent a good five minutes once at a wedding talking to the girl next to me about the truly awful bridesmaid dresses. Then we turned around and the guy filming the wedding had somehow crossed the room and was stood behind us - just in time for the really bitchy stuff. Luckily (in a way) for me, the marriage broke down 6 months after before I think they'd watched the video. (Still have no idea if the guy edited out our comments or not)

I don't ever think it's great form to say this to anyone!

Fair point - the problem for me is that my mother always liked people saying that to her - she was constantly mistaken for my sister when I was a child - so the term has been normalised for me as a compliment rather than becoming something I should never say.
