I've just put up the first showcase website for MoB Speakeasy and it's one that I think you're all going to enjoy.

Bootleg Burlesque aims to be the definitive video archive of burlesque performance on the web. The site features literally hundreds of regularly updated videos that burlesque lovers from all over the world have added to YouTube, all categorised by performer.


Each time somebody updates YouTube with one of the listed performers, their respective Bootleg Burlesque listing will be automatically updated too.
There’s never been an easier way to find the best burlesque on the web. Simply click on the performer name from the list in the left column and you’ll be taken to a page which displays all their YouTube videos in a nice easy list.

Is there a particular reason it's all just YouTube - is that just for ease because it's the most popular?

I only ask because of my recent problems with them - I'm slightly concerned they'll start just chucking everything burlesque off soon, as I've noticed one or two other burlesque vids which have been 'flagged' recently. *sighs*

There is definitely method to the madness as to why it's only YouTube, but the crux of it is that it is much less arsing around for me. I can set new performer categories up in three or four seconds and I know that once I've entered them, I can sit back and they will update themselves.

The concept also works with pretty much any external website content. For example, Ministry Of Burlesque Magazine uses the same concept, but is pulling in data from several partner sites.

Kittie had a video flagged for being inappropriate which was a bit strange as it was the one of when she had her paps and bajingo set in plaster. I think it might have been flagged because there's a shot of naked nipple which lasts for about 0.2 seconds when they remove the plaster cast.

It's so silly, isn't it? When you watch the video of Leyla that caused all my trouble, you actually don't really see much of her bosoms - she's mostly covered by her wrap or her balloon - so hers was the last one I thought would be flagged. I don't know why YouTube don't just set up a filter like some of the others - that way if someone finds some semi-naked ladies, it'll only be because they were looking for them.

I noticed there were a couple of Dirty Martini videos that had either been removed or flagged as well - I just don't know what these people are expecting when they find these videos and see a woman covered in balloons!

I think the real shock was how f***ing cold the plaster was on my bosoms! EEK! Just thinking about makes me wince.

It's weird that it should be flagged as inappropriate considering the casting procedure was to make images for the cover of 125 magazine (found on the low to middle shelves of Borders and all good stockists etc) and to be hung in the Paul Smith gallery in Japan and on London.

I also had a thong on during the casting, but maybe the obscenity spotter choose not to notice that. The whole point of doing plaster casts was to make prosthetic chest and 'downstairs' pieces for a manga/horror inspired art project - i.e. so that nothing rude was actually on show!

Ah, Hugh..... those who know the Hugh Reed phenomenon will enjoy this immensely.

I ought to say also that it is largely thanks to this man that i took up the form of burlesque !

I'll eventually be able to start refining the lists, I originally intended this just to be a demo site to show what can be done with MoB Speakeasy, however it's had over 600 visits in the past 24 hours and I've had loads of email about it too.

I spoke to Des O'Connor (our one, not the other one) because he wasn't appearing on the site and I'm sorting a workaround to ensure that his page isn't filled with Videos of the other Des O'Connor. It would have been so much easier if he simply started performing under his Victorian Values character name - Gimcrack O'Syllabub - then I would have no problems whatsoever!
