Thread: The Curse Of The DJ (Or In At The Deep End)

You'll all be pleased to know that tonights big gig in Cannes has totally sold out at £5k a table and the list of A-list celebs is quite daunting...

However...

Our first choice DJ - Lady Lucks El Nino had to cancel at the last minute because he buggered in his back. That was the first crisis.

Then...

Our backup DJ managed to fall down a flight of stairs this morning and has broken his arm!

Which means...

That I am making my DJ debut in front of 150 of the most prominent people in the world of showbiz! At this juncture I should be crapping my Speedos* but I'm actually quite looking forward to it.

* James does not really advocate the usage of Speedos!

Doubt it - I don't want to offend the real rappers who are coming!

Quite amusingly, Kittie and the girls have been causing quite a stir on La Croisette. They were initially stopped by a single photographer... which turned into several photographers... which turned into the paparazzi... which turned into a huge crowd of onlookers!

And they only went down there to pick up some blank CDs!

Eeeep! Well good luck, I'm sure it will be fine! If all else fails you can shout out "It's my first night!"

It's probably a good job the tables cost £5K if you're using your Blackberry to post mesages on the forum - otherwise you may have to declare yourself bankrupt when you get the bill.

As for DJing - the venue we use for our show has an excellent Sound Tech (he hates being called a DJ as he can do much more than just spin disks) but I suspect this is a pointless bit of info at this time.

Good luck sir, or break a CDR - whatever is the most appropriate comment.

Actually - I've just realised - you'll need to switch your Blackberry off whilst working the DJ booth. I don't think surfing the MoB website would be a good idea whilst playing your vital role in the show.

They have a free 10mb internet connection. No Blackberry for me this time! I have been able to do what I need to do with no problems whatsoever. Uncharacteristically, I am the picture of efficiency at the moment!

We've got 4 sound techs here and 2 lighting guys - this is why I'm not too nervous about DJing!

Unfortunately we have the chef from the QE2 here and he refuses to cook them. Believe me, I've already asked. I then had to explain to him exactly what they were... and he's supposed to be a chef!

I would think so - there are TV cameras all over the place. Not sure who will own the footage though.
