Top of the Burlesque Pops?
Music is my passion, and the music that goes with Burlesque acts is as important as the act itself from my point of view. I'm pretty new to Burlesque and want to get a feel for things.
So cast your votes please:
Most overplayed music/song, used on the scene?
Most unusual song you've seen a performer use?
Sexiest music/song, or use of music/song?
or nominations in any other category you choose, please.WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

If you do manage to get any burlesque DJing gigs, do let me know how - so far you seem to need to have been born into the job, I've never known such a closed shop!
My village has a small s/h furniture barn thing - I have been doing well with house clearance stuff recently from him, I have been ripping Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Andrews Sisters and Helen Forrest onto my laptop this week...
This Thread --> HERE <--- produced a few good ideas as well.

Not something I've managed yet, I'm just building up my collection, and play at my own parties. If you want gigs you need to get involved with a promoter or a crew of some sort, there wont be many bookings in the way that you get them in other scenes, will definately be who you know so get out and get networking.

The problem with getting out and networking is that I am out most weekends with 'regular' gigs (weddings, parties, corporate stuff) which is part of my living; much as I would like to go to burlesque evenings instead, altruism only goes so far towards paying the bills...
In the meantime...
For Big Band crossover, hunt up:
Pat Boone - 'In A Metal Mood' - he did it first, but for ages it wasn't available in the UK.
Puppini Sisters - do modern stuff in an Andrews Sisters Style...
plus Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine... nu-metal hits, lounge style!
