    Default Splosh and Burlesque?

    Ok, here’s a question/discussion topic:

Do you think there is a market for Splosh burlesque? Is this already out there and I have just missed it? I am mentally working through a new act and it could go several ways…including a Splosh-style route. There is a huge market fore gore acts, so why not Splosh? Is it just too much effort and mess for venues etc, or is it just not well known enough?

    Let me know your thoughts!

Oh I see. You Brits are very liberated I think the word is.

I'd hate be the poor person clearing up the stage or would you put down sheets first?

I've seen a couple of Splosh style acts over the years and they went down Ok but i think the problem was that the fetish itself isn't generally well known enough for audiences to get the joke. They may just wonder why you're sitting on a cake!

It's a great idea though and i think we can definitely find a market for it - looking forward to hearing more!!

    Hi Hun,

The only issue I can think of is the clean-up afterward! Venues, such as the one I use, have carpet on the stage (certainly not wipe-clean!). You may also need to consider your insurance policy if you intend to use food/perishables which may stain an audience member's outfit if you were to accidentally 'splosh' them!

And for goodness sake make sure you only do it in a venue with a backstage shower! Can you imagine having to make your way home all sploshified?

Oh my God Fleur 'Sploshified' is such a great word! I am going to use it whenever possible!

...Yeh, clean up would be a problem..I would probably have a sheet/tarp put down first ;-)

Keep your opinions coming though - I really want to know what lots of people think about this!

Also, if you are putting down some sort of wipe-clean surface, be careful it doesn't get too slippery! You don't want to be breaking you ankle mid-performance.

I think it could work well and although it may not be very well known, I think that with a little twist of comedy it could be really really good - I'm thinking a little tableau of a dainty tea party that descends into a sploshfest!

Clearing up afterwards is definately the big issue though and could seriously affect the flow of acts as it can take a long time to clean up and you'd need to be really sure that the stage was not left wet or slippery for any other act. Maybe a picnic style act would work as then you could put down a picnic rug which would look better than a tarpaulin.
