Belated Posting!
Although this is a tres late posting; i think the Tassie scene has improved tremendously since 2008. Although it is a small state, we are quite known for innovative arts festivals and productions. Given the limited budget we all operate on, I think performances and shows are picking up, with more performers from interstate interested in performing.
The downside is that the arts 'community' (if there is such a thing?) are actually not that appreciative of burlesque and a bit dismissive of it as an art form in its own right. When in fact, I'd suggest that some of the burlesque revues that have been produced are at a higher standard than most amateur theatre running in the state. Given that most productions are produced/organised and paid for out of performers pockets and operate on a shoe string budget this is no mean feat.
Hopefully things are looking up from hereon!
