Hi Kii!
Welcome to MoB
Don't worry, no one here will be harsh on you. Everyone's very lovely
A good place to start with 40's music would be the Puppini Sisters. They do covers of older songs such as Java Jive but also things like Heart of Glass and Wuthering Heights.
You can then look at their influences, such as the Andrews Sisters, and research into them which should lead to more artists.
In regards to losing weight, here we believe that everybody is beautiful, no matter what size. If it makes you happy and feel more confident to lose weight than by all means do it, but we can assure you that you will be beautiful and sexy just the way you are
Burlesque is a fabulous way to gain confidence, partly because it has such an emphasis on REAL people- just the way they are without the need to try and change themselves. It might be a good idea to look for a burlesque workshop in your area, or find people on here nearby you who would like to meet up.
Good luck!

thanks for all your kind words, its nice to find a place to relax and talk to people about the same things that you find interesting. i am looking into classes in my area and i'll have to find a girlfriend to take with me for the first time i think, i get very nervous on my own.
i've found Puppini Sisters myspace and i love the cover of crazy right now, its much better than the original :twothumbs: brillant!

This link is to popular forties tunes, not originals but piano pieces. Any you like, go onto Youtube and type in the name of the song/tune and hear it as it was recorded. And darling, you are most welcome.
