Glandular fever =[
Blehhh
I have glandular fever which is bad in its self but i also started my first year at uni but only managed 5 weeks before i came back to mummy so she could look after me.
All my deadlines are here for the first bit, and although im told its better getting ill now in the 1st year than in the last year when the final final deadlines are due.
Im just worried because ill have so much to catch up on but more that if i miss too much oif this term i may have to drop off and start again next sept. ITS NOT FAIR..i cant help being ill.
Advice?
Im just getting stressed and worried which aint helping at all :cry:WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Oh no! Glandular fever is awful!!!
Luckily for you, you have asked the right fairy! My fella's Dad's a Doctor and my fella got Glandular Fever towards the end of his 2nd year just before his exams and he was ill for about 6 weeks.
You will be able to get a sick note from your Doctor and make sure they put that glandular fever can have effects (i.e. tiredness, sickness and other such nasties) up to a year after.
Because of the nature of Glandular fever it is a very valid excuse for missing anything so you should be fine.
Chris got to resit his exams and got extra time in them. He also got lots of support from his tutors to help him catch up. We had planned to go white water rafting which was non refundable but as he had glandular fever the people were fine with it when we sent a copy of the sick note.
I really hope you get better soon as I saw how nasty it was and don't worry about a thing, people are aware of how serious it is.
Take care

I wouldn't worry about it, I don't know anyone who hasn't been sick in their first year of uni!
I think it's a tradition or something!! Hope you get better soon :-)

I really feel for you hunny i know how bad glandular fever can be. Fairy is right about getting a sick note from the doctor for uni, try not to worry about it (i know thats a lot easier said than done) But the key to getting better really is to sleep lots and relax worrying really wont do you any good. Dont whatever you do rush back to uni, once you start getting better dont go back strait away wait untill your 100% else you can just set yourself back again and end up more ill and missing more uni. Listen to your doctors not your uni, At the end of the day if you have to restart the year thats better than making yourself more and more ill. Take care babe and i really hope your better soon
