Kittie was recently asked to write an article about sex and fetish for the Independent newspaper. It was nice of them to inform us that it was actually published yesterday and in no way did we have to rely on a random foot fetishist mailing us to tell us how much he had enjoyed the article!

Perhaps the actions of The Independent should be filed under 'how not to increase your circulation and make money' - perhaps I shall try this technique for my next show in... oops don't want to ruin the theory.

The article was very informative, although I had already figured 90% of it out already but didn't have an expert to point out my thoughts had been correct.

Interesting read Kittie, enjoyed that. One piece that did particularly catch my eye was in your summing up:

What immediately sprang to mind here was homosexuality. Were gay people deemed to have a fetish in the days that relationships between same sex couples was illegal?
And now that same sex relationships have entered the main stream, has homosexuality lost it's exclusive, naughty taboo and ultimately it's appeal?

Incidently, that picture of you in The Independent, dressed as a fantasy nurse. I know what that is in your hands, and I know where you stick it. There are some fetish fantasies that are just beyond the pail.

I don't know if gay folks were deemed to have a fetish, but they were deemed to have a 'perversion' - to be 'against nature' and 'against 'God' due to the specific nature of their sex acts.

I'd suggest that the prejudice against homosexuals was based on very specific ideas taken from certain Bible passages which appear to specifically damn 'man on man' (and 'man on beast') action. How it actually reads depends on the 'version' you read, ironically...

Gender itself is not a fetish. Someone could fetishise a gender, but being heterosexual/homosexual is just a state of being - and not an acquired idiosyncracy, brought on through personal experience. Although, having said that, we could delve in to the nature/nurture arguments about gender and sex...

I doubt that in the past (when homosexual activity was illegal) that gay people had secret gay sex because it was taboo or naughty. I think that the majority were attracted to an underground gay scene because it's where they could meet other gay people. No doubt the secrecy and 'naughtiness' gave it an edge that some would find an additional turn on.

Kittie (who is currently fast asleep) did indeed appear in Skin Two - she was also on the cover of Marquis. And I used to run the Skin Two website!

It was about 4 years ago, not eight years!
