Default How did you pick your name?

You all have such wonderful names! I'd love to know how you chose them and when you decided you they fitted! I know theres a FAQ thing on this but this is more of an experiences and stories thread i'm hoping!

Hope people don't mind all my questions and posting, i can just feel myself melting into it all and i'm so interested! Can't wait for the day i sit down with a cocktail with some of you!

I am actually a fancy rat shower and breeder with the National Fancy Rat Society [alternative and unusual hobbies are a natural thing for me, yes] and i've always had such fun choosing pedigree and show names for them. Maybe i can name myself after one of them!

    A few i have at the moment and from the past;

    Starboard Savvy
    Sally Forth
    Captain Morgan
    Black Market Beagles
    Onyx Orchid
    Scarlet Rogue
    High Voltage
    Ceridwens Cauldron
    Wolf Whistle
    Lady Godiva

I used to perform under the name Satine La Rouge but didnt really like it as it was picked in a rush backstage just before I went on. I wanted something a bit different and my boyf came up with Moonlight Desire which I now use for modelling to I also toyed with Eden L'Etoile but that went too

Awwrr that must feel so good, to be named by a friend <3

Just the word Desire brings all sorts of emotive feeling, i think you have a wonderful name!

I'm glad you like the name Onyx Orchid - its also my online game alias! Maybe i'm destined to be Onyx Orchid! On other forums i'm either Ratty or Whiley. Can't even remember why i was named Whiley but that was a suggestion from a buddy.

Sort of fancied something a bit different but theres a fine line between different and just plain off putting, so one of my original ideas i thought up while cleaning out the rats got swept to the back of the idea bin. That was Blue Barracuda, but i'm likening myself to a butt ugly fish...

With mine, I thought of the personality I wanted my burlesque persona to have. That's where the charm bit came from- it was the second part of a name which was pretty bad, looking back on it.

The December bit was two fold. I was walking home from work and, as it was so cold, I would think of things wildly to take my mind off the cold. One time I was thinking of a story I read with a king who named his twelve daughters after each month. I was thinking how December would be a nice name, albeit a bit odd for a child.

At around the same time, I found a website with a link of baby names fot goths (I don't know how I found it!) and December was listed on there. It got me thinking back to my thought on the walk home, and also my love of all things Christmassy.

I thought it would be a great name so replaced my original name with it.

Ooh forgot to add- I also liked the irony that my birthday is in June. I get a lot of photographers ask if I was really born in December and love the confusion on their faces when I tell them itwas actually the middle of summer

What a fabulous name for a child - December!!!!!!! Shame I'm not having any more or December would DEFINATELY be top of the list.

Don't quite know WHERE my name came from!!!!! Pixie could be from spending too much time in the brownies (I was a sprite but was DESPARATE to be a pixie) and parasol - every girl needs a prop. Doesn't really reflect my style or personality but then it's nice to be different and create something or someone new!!!!!

Am always SERIOUSLY impressed by other peoples names, they are sooooo clever.

    kisses
