Bogus ostrich fan site paranoia?!
Can anyone tell me if they have bought fans or other ostrich products from 'ostriches on line. com'?
I'm trying to buy a fan making kit(just the staves etc) from this website but after giving them billing instructions, they later sent an email back to me saying they needing a signature from me.....
I thought this was a bit weird and shady...so can someone put my mind at rest? Are they dodgepots? Or are they for real?
Aargh! Please help!:help:WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Apparently they need my signature to verify my details and protect me from fraud. Hmmm.

Don't be afraid ladies. If you are using a credit or debit card of some kind , they ask for this all the time. I have had to do this a few times and I am a repeat customer. Don't stress, just send it out to them and they will get the feathers to you as soon as you do. Its a pain in the ass , I know but the feathers they have are beautiful and worth it.

HMMMMMMMMMM - If you pay by paypal this is not needed - as you know. All Card payments should be done using a secure server and I think now via a payment gateway where you securely enter your details and the merchant takes payment when they are despatched. I have never heard of this - I have NEVER had to do this 'Online'

I've never paid them with pay pal and so I would not know that . What I do know is that they are very strict at trying to make sure that the person using the card is the person whom they say that they are. As I said before, I have had this happen to me EVERY time I have dealt with the company and have always gotten merchandise that is so great , so make your own decisions ladies but I can say that my experience was good.

That's all rather odd. I mean, you can send them your signature, but since they have never seen your card they have no idea whether or not it is the same as the one on the card, so I don't see how it's going to be useful.

Hmmm sounds odd to me. I wouldn't do it, just to be on the safe side.

Mind at rest, decision made!
Thanks ladies for sharing your thoughts and experience. Glad to know they are a real company, Ava!
Am trying to pay by PayPal instead, which I've never done before, cos I still don't like the idea of posting my signature to them. I went to bed feeling much less twitchy, so thanks again
