    Default Please help with pasties?

    Hi all you gorgeous people!!
Im planning on making pasties as a cheeky little add on gift for my girlie friends at crimbo and was wondering if anyone could answer these questions?
1 - what should i use as the base?
2 - I cant sew to save myself so what else could i use and the best technique?
3 - what material not to use?

and any other tips you might have?

    Would be much appreciated,

    Thanks to all that reply

Either use cardboard or thin foam on the base (if former then use leather, pvc or something similar), use a hot glue gun to save yourself from having to sew (or double sided tape, or combination of the two) and I wouldn't use any see through or thin material. Happy making!

i like to make my bases from primed canvas, i buy it as a notebook from the art store. i glue an absorbent material to the inside - usually a few layers of muslin so the spirit gum will stick, but some girls i know just use double sided tape. i made a pair by gluing lace in a fan-shape and just painting it so that it looked like leaves.

I tend to use buckram as a base for mine as it's thin and workable but still sturdy... plus it's inexpensive so you won't have to shell out too much when you're still working out the kinks of how to make them.

I made my first pair a couple of weeks ago and was going to stick crystals on them but then I found this fabric that has sequins on it so it was instantly sparkly. So thats my tip, use fabric that's already sparkly to save time (especially as you are going to be making a few pairs). Assuming that you want sparkle.
Also I experimented with putting the tassle on before attaching the lining so that it hides the knot.
    Good luck, have fun

I made a pair just using thin card and lots and lots of little white feathers feathers for my swan dance and people comment on them whenever I do the routine!
