London/Herts/Beds/Bucks Artists wanted for Interviews
Hello lovely ladies and gentlemen!
My name is Carly and I'm currently writing my dissertation for my Masters in Performance Practices and Research. All my research this year has been based around burlesque (some of you may remember previous mewlings for help!) and I'm really looking for some established burlesque artists to interview for my research.
The one thing I've actively been exploring and disseminating through my practice based research this year is the use of the burlesque art form as a mode for autobiography/autobiographical leanings. In other words, how much of what you put up on stage is artifice and how much is based in a level of truth? What parts of your performance are 'you'?
I'm especially interested if anyone has ever created a routine and/or show with a story that is based in the performer's 'real life'...
I've also been looking at Marisa Carnesky's work for my background research, so if anyone happens to have worked with her in the past I'd love to speak with you about that!
The questions won't be hard, I promise, and the interview can be as long or as short as you like to fit around your busy, burly lives! I'm hoping to just have a nice chat with some like-minded people and to share some opinions on my research and the burlesque genre.
I'm based in Bedfordshire (so if anyone works out of the 3 Counties, get in touch!), but it's easy for me to get into London, so I'm perfectly happy to meet people in The Big Smoke!
Please, please get in contact if you're even remotely interested! I am very nice and you'd be doing me a great big favour!
Please contact me via MoB or on carly.halse@cssd.ac.uk
(If you read all that, thank you! *shuts mouth*)WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread
