    Post sponsorships

    hello everyone,
I am thinking of approaching some potential sponsors for one of my acts (I need funds to get a big prop made), something I've never done before. Has anyone here ever approached any? How do you go on about it, do you need a business plan or just send people an e-mail with ideas? Are there any 'template' covering letters that you can suggest? Any help appreciated
    Cheers!

I kinda have a few: I think the most sensible way is to maintain a relationship for a company you work for regularly... that way they can keep u topped up with free products, or sone kind of financial arrangement. Maybe find out who friends work for?

And some costume/prop makers offer to make stuff if they like what you do and think you'llbe a good ad for their work!

A big help is to put yourself in the shoes of the actual sponsor. What can you offer to them that will benefit them in ways that will outstrip the cost/effort of making the prop.

Ask yourself what you can offer that is unique to you and you alone. This could be a high public profile or repeated bookings in front of large audiences.

In general, sponsors won't part with large amounts of cash or invest time into building props unless they can receive guaranteed returns on their investments. Therefore, it's not so much about the act, it's about how many people will see your act and how the sponsor will be associated with it.
