Thread: First burlesque lesson!

Well, a few weeks ago I started a thread and said that I had won a competition through the local newspaper and that the prize was burlesque lessons with Polestars.
Several of you asked me to let you know how it went, so here I am.

We had the first lesson tonight and it was brilliant! I wasn't expecting much as I hadn't heard many good things about Polestars and went thinking if I only learn one thing that will be great but it was actually very good.

The teacher was lovely, though we are only having her this week as our usual teacher will be with us for the final three lessons, and she took us through a warm up and down. She didn't know much about burlesque itself or about the community locally but she did seem to really enjoy what she was teaching.

We learnt a few basic walks and poses and we did a little routine.

Much fun was had by all and I'm looking forward to next week although also slightly scared as we are going to learn striptease! Why that comes before showgirl and military, I don't know, but I'm sure it will be fun, though maybe a little cold ...

Its nice that you've had a good time after all of the bad things we've seen and heard about polestars. I guess its the luck of the draw really as there are so many of them scattered around the country. Glad you got lucky with yours. Hope you enjoy the rest of it.

Ditto - it's great you had a good time, although I think the Military Burlesque thing has got us all fascinated now! :lol:

I velieve Military Style Burlesque was something from a Birmingham based 'Burlesque Workshop'.

NOTE: all comments surrounded by the ' symbol should be taken with a pinch of salt.

From what we were told last night,"military" style is more dominatrix with horse whips! Sounds incredibly scary!

Hope the rest of the classes are as good and doooo keep us posted on the "Four Styles" :lol: Sure, at then end of the day you didnt have to pay for the lessons and it seems to be fun so, yay :twothumbs:

Quite like the sound of that one Vie.....teehee!!!!!!

So glad you enjoyed your workshop. Do you feel like a new woman now??? I did a bit after mine - until I had to make the kids tea and was brought back down to earth with a thud!!!! Let us know how the other lessons go.
