Thread: Burlesque article in the Daily Mail :o

Please don't abuse me too much for posting an article from that awful rag that is the Mail! Anyways someone on another forum I use posted a Mail article and this was shown in the side bar - did you like that disclaimer of all tabloid knowledge!

My all time favourite quote about the Daily Mail ' the Daily Mail - not so much a newspaper as an idiot's guidebook issued in bite-size daily instalments '

Good line up there - they picked some good performers. Quite what makes these particular performers as opposed to any others "the new queens", I'm not quite sure, but still - Ivy, Chrys, Roxy and the rest are great ambassadors for the scene.

Some interesting comments:

From "BIG DAVE" (in capitals as if to emphasise just how "big" he is): "Very nice ladies but I wonder when we will get to see some more photo's of Georgina Sachs with the rest of her dance troop"

(Yes, I did get annoyed with the out of place apostrophe!)

And also:

"Hmmmm! Wouldn't cross the road to say hello to any of them. Good figures? Don't think so, unless you are comparing them to the likes of Amy Winehouse. Fern Britten looks better than this lot, tummy band and all!"

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha(deep breath)hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I think Fern Britton looks fantastic, but comparing these girls to her is just silly. They are hardly plus size! All look great too

EDIT: Just re-read this. Does he mean they are too small? I'm confused, but either way they all look fantastic!

I think that's the implication, yes

But they're not that small!

I guess it's good that he is promoting the whole "real women" thing, but again there is that risk of alienating those who are naturally slim. Sigh!

I think actually he may be having more of a problem as they have some character and individuality rather than being made out of plastic!

It's funny, I never really consider Camille O'Sullivan to be a part of the burlesque scene. I don't know why because she slots in nicely - just never really thought of her like that. I love, love, love her though, I think she's amazing and would love to see her live again (especially as I didn't get the chance to see her at this year's Edinburgh festival).

That's quite a nice wee piece, though. And the photos are lovely.

Great article but the 'guy' who made the last comment about not crossing the road to meet any of those girls............bet he's single!!!!!!!!!!!!! How very rude - I think they ALL lokk fantastic, on both the before and after pics.
