Dita Article
Hello everyone,
Whilst replacing my blusher brush today, and scouting for powder bleach, i stumbled into Superdrug, where the shop assistant offerd me one of the magazines. As i was on my phone to a girl from dance class i just sort of smiled. Anyway... I open this magazine later on to the Dita Interview...
Well. And I quote:
Gossip magazine: Whats the truth about your tiny waist?
Dita: natrually it is 22 inches, but i've been wearing corsets since i started stripping aged 18, and worked for 5 nights a week, for 7 years. But i don't sleep in a corset and i don't diet for a corset. I just always enjoy the look and feel of a corset. When i'm on stage in my corset, i'm usually laced down to about 19 or 20- not 16.
Hmm. Does anyone else remember her claiming she had a 16.5 inch waist? In fact i seem to remember it being in both sections of her book.
I'm not nessesarily slating Dita, I just wonder sometimes.
Either Way. Go read the article in Glamour from superdrug... Its amusing! She certainly does have a dry sence of humor. At least i hope it's humor lol!WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Maybe when she's on stage she doesn't lace it as tight? I don't know about corsets in terms of performing, but I know they're a bugger to remove in a hurry! So I imagine one laced to 16 inches might take some time!

I never lace my corset up properly for performing. I get so worried about getting stuck in it! What does the statistic in her book say? I think it's 18
I saw that magazine a couple of weeks ago and thought "I must mention it on MoB" but completely forgot.Snowflakes and Sparkles

I believe she means she CAN tighten to as little as 16 inches but I imagine that'd be a killer to perform with.

Yeah, Obviously it would. I used to perform with my corset at 20, and it was a challenge lol.
it has 16.5 inches in the book. I just found it amusing that the number appears to jump around a bit

I have performed at 17-18" (the Sian Hoffman one and my Peacock corset), and I think it would depend on the corset to be honest! Obviously you can be a bit less bendy, but if it's cut generously at the top and bottom and just tight on the waist you can still get it undone without undoing it, which is where I can imagine it would get all tangled up!
But it's totally possible!

just wanted to say Vicky I love your Klimt-style costume...I'm not the biggest fan of his work but I was thinking a while ago about how it would transfer well into costume design, then I saw yours in Bizarre (I think) and it's lovely!
