Default Phyllis Dixey's grave mysterious restored!

For those of you who know of Phyllis Dixey, her grave, over in Epsom has been mysteriously restored .....very recently. The family apparently know nothing about it. You can see a picture of it up at Find A Grave - Millions of Cemetery Records

Arguably the first full striptease show put on in the West End of London was in 1942 by Phyllis Dixey. After the popularity of her Confessions of a Fan Dancer act in 1939, she formed her own company of girls and eventually rented the Whitehall Theatre in London to put on a revue called The Whitehall Follies. Phyllis Dixey stayed at the Whitehall for the next five years producing such shows as Peek-a-boo and became known as the ‘Queen of Striptease’. After the war Phyllis Dixey began touring in England and the Continent till the mid ’50s. Not willing to compete with the lewder and ruder shows of the time she was forced into bankruptcy. She ended her days as a cook and died in 1964. All very sad. In 1978 a two-hour TV biopic was aired called ‘The One and Only Phyllis Dixey’ starring Lesley-Anne Down as Phyllis. I don’t suppose anyone has a copy of it? There is a black and white clip of her on British Pathe Limited called MEET PHYLLIS DIXEY: A day in the life .

    Hi YAK
PHYLLIS DIXEY was my great aunt and I would also like to know who restored her grave.
I was shocked to see this when I visited it for the first time as I also have seen the photos of what it was like before on FINDAGRAVE.
I would also like to know how you know that the family know nothing about it being restored?
I would like to find the persons responsible and thank them as this must have cost a small fortune.
    Regards Oli Dixey...

    Hi Oli,
A chap called Maurice informed me about the grave. I think you are in contact with him. Not much help with the mystery I'm afraid.
I've been doing a bit of research on Phyllis Dixey for a book I'm working on called BURLESQUE POSTERS: The Art of Tease for Korero books Korero Books.
I'll drop you a private email with more details......talk soon.
