    Default Costume concern

Hope you dont mind but this might be a case of if I get it out in the open I wont worry as much. For my new routine I've been inspired by costumes as worn by Dirty Martini and have ordered a decorated thong affair thats got decoration that goes up to about the belly button. However in every routine I've ever performed I've never been out of a corset, this is the first one I've planned not to use one in and I'm worried, I dont want to expose the world to my baby tum! I've made sure the costumer knows it needs covering but this will be the biggest amount of flesh I've ever shown and dont want the audience to thing yuck!! Am I just panicking over nothing? :help:

i agree if you're comfortable with how you look the audience will think you hot, if you're shy about it or obviously uncomfortable the audience will feel bad for you. I dont think yuck is ever a response. Anyone with the balls to get up there and go look at me i'm hot, will be greated with the appropriate whopping and cheers!

good call. I think the designer knows I'm a bit iffy about the whole thing and shes been a sweetheart, shes going to mail me as she goes along so if I want more coverage it can be added - I'm a bit more excited now! Thanks

You look fab! And if anyone does notice your baby tum, it'll be other mums in the audience who'll go home with a new, positive view of their bodies.

Just don't think about it. If it bothers you at all, suck it in. Make sure that your posture is very good, stand straight and stretch all your moves out. But that's all just to give your own confidence a boost - no one else will give a hoot. You're being inspired by Dirty Martini - so carry on! Her stomach isn't exactly washboard, and do you think she worries if people will think yuck?If you're inspired by her, I bet you think she looks fabulous on stage, so there's all the confidence you need ^_^

i personally wouldnt wear a thong if i was going to perform caus i know im not comfortable in them, just dont like them. but id wear a nice full back pair of ruffles and id bemore than confident. its all about making sure youre defo confident because you will sparkle on stage if you have confidence

Yep, definitley you have to be confident in what you are (not!) wearing - maybe wear a thong around the house to get used to how it feels, and how your posture affects the way you look in it. I was once flicking through a 'think yourself thin' book and it said you can actually 'lose' 7 lb just by standing taller - back straight shoulders back etc - look more confident too. If you are really worried about stretch marks then I found cocoa butter helped reduce mine - that bit of skin gets lots of ware from waistbands and doesn't get moisturised so a bit of TLC works wonders. If you want to distract from it then maybe some body glitter to add sparkles??
