The Rocket Club Birmingham Burlesque Debut
The Rocket Club's Burlesque Debut was all in all was a successful and evening of fun and entertainment of the highest quality from Slinky Sparkles, Vendetta Vain, Daiquiri Dusk and Vicky Butterfly, plus acts from the Rockets Resident performers m (billie rae) and Danny Demilo.
A few obvious hiccups here and there but for the first show it went as to be expected. And i have had some really fantastic feedback.
If anyone was there or has any views or opinions on the night, the venue and the entertainment you saw there, then please let me know what you thought.

Hmm, well... I must confess to neither taking to the film crew, their lack of research or the shock of being filmed unexpectedly!
However, I did genuinely enjoy doing the night... everyone was so lovely, and the atmosphere was so great and relaxed!
I thought it was a really beautiful club, really sumptuous, and it was great to have so much stage to work with (though next time I'll tape my shoes to stop slipping on the ol' smoke machine residue
!).
It's also such an interesting type of venue to explore with regards to recent licensing problems, and I think it gives a bit of an extra frisson to the night... definitely a really retro experience!
All in all, once they get a good compere, and perhaps some music, I think it'll be a really great night!

"We're holding Birmingham's first real burlesque show here at the Rocket".
I hope he means the first burlesque show at the venue, rather than the venue holding Birmingham's first "real burlesque show".Snowflakes and Sparkles

i thought that too...but seeing as he seems to have very little knowledge of burlesque (he was shocked that women and couples went to the show?!) it was probably meant as the first real show in Birmingham, i doubt he knows about candybox, silk stocking, cherry pop etc...(and if you reember the original post about this venue the OP said there were "no burlesque shows in Birmingham")
oh well, maybe it will go on to be a good event once its teething problems are ironed out and it will get good attendance as the other events in bham do. Obviously some people wont attend due to the venue etc, others will, at least there is something for everyone.

I agree sweetie - just watched the clip!!! If he thinks he held Birminghams first 'real' burlesque show he is very much mistaken and should do his homework.
Glad it all went well though. Do we know if the audience was more male than female?? Only asking as we KNOW that usually burlesque events have more women in the audience than men. Just wondered if the venue had made a difference to the audience gender - I'm nosey....sorry!!!!

this was mentioned in the newspaper article, he seemed surprised that couples and women were in the audiece , and said that it was very different to a "normal" night there....not sure what he was expecting really.

Haha......thanks Kitty!!! I'm glad that the venue seemed to attract the regular sort of burlesque crowd rather than putting off the women and couples who might have otherwise not gone - great stuff.
It does seem as though the promoter (Allen??) didn't really do his homework on burlesque events in Birmingham OR the type of audience that burlesque attracts, glad it all went well though.
