Confused.com...
Hi all,
I've been going on these forums for hmmm a year or two and havn't visited for a while. Last time i was on here i was weeping because i had my first ever show booked by couldn't attended and plus i've been moaning to you in the past about my weight, as i felt this was holding me back and i was worried about my stretch marks.
Well i'm back and feel like a new women, my stretch marks have faded, and well i've got my confidence back and i feel more sexy then ever and want to start performing. i've been practicing forever and have never felt confident with my body so was to shy to perform, but after all the great feedback this site has given me and putting up with my moaning and knowing you don't have to be skinny to be a burlesque star, i just want to go out there and show off myself and the talent i'm sure i have!
One thing i'm not to sure about, is if it can now happen. I don't know wether to keep looking for burlesque beginner shows on here or just advise myself or basically how to get into it? There are allot of act's these days who are fantastic and i just think... how do you get yourself out there?
Thanks for listening to me ramble of yet again :-)

The best thing to do if you're a beginner, and especially if you've not done any other form of performance work before, is to try your act out at a showcase night, or an event that regularly has a showcase section. Showcases are for new performers to try it out, or for established ones to test out a new act before selling it to promoters. MoB run Movers and Shakers, and I can recommend The Velvet Burlesque Meetup, Finger In The Pie Cabaret, The Slippery Belle Burlesque, and The Sugar Fix meetup. they are all on my myspace friends. There are more, I'll let you know when I've remembered them! You won't get paid for these nights, except with photos or showreels, which are darn useful for a beginner.
