Hello lovely Ministry of Burlesque people !

I'm putting together an outdoor festival of assorted amusements - with multiple stages of music, dance, cabaret & curiositie.
The Fling takes place on Saturday 4th July 2009 and is for adults only.

Would some intriguing and generous people on MoB like to get involved?
There may be opportunities to perform as an individual or to bring a troupe of curious people, perhaps under your collective name?

The site is a nice park with a lake in Chelmsford (Essex) - that's just 35 minutes from Liverpool Street Station! This non-profit community festival is underwritten by the local council but we only have a small budget while we establish the festival, so we’re working in partnership with promoters/venues such as the Comedy Club Ltd, the Popcorn Club and others. We seek more such partnerships.

A mini version of the event was piloted last year for an audience of 650 people and it was really successful. We invite you to join us at the beginning of this new festival and grow with us – ideally up to a size of about 10,000 people with overnight camping.

Things to do at The Fling include live music, song, dance, short films, stand-up, silent disco, dressing-up, charity casino, cheeky cabaret, workshops, poetry, storytelling, massage, side shows and more – all free once on site and aimed at those aged over 18.

With your help, we aim to have some burlesque too – anything to have the audience’s senses explored, seduced and surprised.

Also, we’re doing some warm-up ‘taster sessions’ at a nightclub and need a burlesque performer for each event on 26 April, 17 May and 14 June. Are you available?

So, if you’re interested in doing something nice with us, please telephone me on 07957 193 195 or e-mail: liam_rich at hotmail dot com – as soon as possible.
For more information about last year’s Fling, I can provide a DVD of The Fling 2008.

Thank you!

Liam
