What makes You do it?
I thought it might be interesting to see the various reasons, drives, impulses, desires and so on that inspire, push and make each performer get up on stage and perform....
Regardless of whether it's your profession, occupation, hobby or even a private indulgence.... what makes each of you 'do it'?
How does it make you feel?WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

I love the buzz of getting up on stage and entertaining. The more the audience enjoy it the more i do. It's also a bit of a confidence boost as i was always the fat funny girl at school, now i can put that to use.
And i love all the glitz and glam or it all, you get to dress up everyday, give yourself and interesting name and be outrageous. It's like being a little girl again and dressing like a princess everyday.

Lady B pretty much gave my answer! For me, it's FUNNNNNNNNN. Even if I'm being a moody beast, I cheer up completely when I'm on stage. It's like being in a trance.
And, like Lady B said, it's fun to dress up and be someone else for a while!

Ditto - a huge part of it is the buzz of getting up on stage and knowing that you're entertaining an audience.
I also love the originality of it and the challenge of putting together routines, costumes and music together to create a unique act - there iss nothing like the feeling you get when you know that a routine has finally come together! :twothumbs:

I love making people laugh.
I love coming up with odd ideas making them into acts and getting to perform them. Each of my acts makes me feel so different and I get a alternative buzz from each one.

To prove to myself that I'm not useless.
To push myself and step out of my comfort zones.
To live life to its fullest.
Because it makes me happy.
To try and show others that they to can be anything they want to be if they can just believe in themselves.
Because life is so short, and every minute is ours to spend, and I want to spend my limited minutes wisely, and not waste them on being sad or letting anyone or anything stopping me be the very best I can be.
(the above applies to my vanilla life as much as my modelling or up and coming performing, and performing I've done in years gone by, ok, decades ago

I also like knowing that ten years after my drama teacher made me a tree because 'i just didn't have what it takes to be a performer', i am still acting and dancing. And all her 'lovies' who were Juliet and Titania are now working in offices no where near a stage.
And usually your routine is all yours from the costume to the music choice, the movements to the probs, like a baby that you see grow and flurish.

Because I can would be the easy answer! only it's not so simple.
I am having a huge internal crisis about actual performing at the moment, I have a spot coming up, everything is in hand (ish) and i'm totally loosing the plot about my reasons for doing it or rather the validity of what I'm doing. I have confidance in the routine my ability to perform it and entertain etc. I'm just in that horrible place of wondering why I'm doing it ( to entertain, because I enjoy it etc.) but that nagging little voice is starting to get louder, I love performing, I love the creative process involved i'm just having so many negitive thoughts about it, may be it's just nerves???
I would say on a more postive note the reason I was drawn to burlesque was the huge creative freedom it offers may be I'm getting a bit hung up on what i think other peoples perceptions of it are. God I hope that all makes some sort of sense.
