Burly Theft
Ok, I don't do these kinds of threads but this needs saying.
IT IS NOT OK TO STEAL A PERFORMERS IDENTITY !
Nor is it ok to steal an act.
Ladies you know who you are, you have been outed.
Do not be suprised if many nights & promoters blacklist you from performing.
Any genuine newbies out there do not worry, this is not for you.
If your first routine is to something from the tease album & you do a 50's secretery, librarian,,,,,, ( cheesecake cutie )
It may well be that there are some simularitys.
Do not worry,
it's only practise you are yet to find you feet.
It is not ok to steal a chunk of a routine, a full costume, a showreal, a portfolio, or a name.
Burlesque is an art form. treat it as such.
Don't take what other people have crafted and claim it to be your own.
There is no point, nothing about the routine is origional or is your own,
Why bother stealing. It's thoughtless and ultimately stupid.
You may as well burn a cd from the charts and scribble your name over the musicians, or tip-ex over a banksy with your scribble.
Real performers ( as in people who hone a craft )
travel and network a hell of a lot.
So if you are being dishonest, you will be found out.
I will not be naming the person(s) who have encured this post on the forum. But should promoters wish to know, message the fb or spaz.WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Im going tarrentino on this issue.
Two more performers have told me today that these person(s) have contacted them about there acts and get this,,, actually using parts of it & the premis behind it.
Oh yes,
"you know how much effort youv put into painting this chapel ceiling, Im just going to brush stroke some brown on the edge & claim it's mine,,,"
Jesus H christ.
MAKE YOUR OWN ROUTINES !
Ladies, You have been outed & Blacklisted for three nights and an upcoming gig, and that's just within the last 14 hours.
crime does not pay, you would be best advised to appologise to the performers you have ( and i use the word sparingly ) sampled.

Sorry to hear its happened to you to honey. I got a message back from the performer who is doing an act very similar to mine today. She has decided to keep doing the act and is not going to change it. It was a very nice mail she sent and there is nothing I can do.
Big hugs

I just don't understand why people can't do their own thing! If it's an honest mistake, then fair enough.
But when you have been TOLD about the similarities, or, even worse, asking performers to use their routines??? It's just ridiculous!!!
Anyway, everyone knows who did the originals, so there is no point whatsoever in stealing. People work it out soon enough.

I do believe from her e-mails that its an honest mistake that she did not know about my act. But to still go ahead and to keep doing it once its been pointed out, I just don't get it. I am sorry to hear this is happening more and more. I would rather hear about people doing things that shock, amaze, leave me speechless. Not seen it, seen it done better, seen it done worse, seen it with a white dress seen it by a red head. Boooo
