    Default Backing Music...

    Howdi...

Just a quick question for any singers/musician types (although others may know too) about backing music. Where do people get it from? Do people just get karaoke versions of songs they want to sing, or does someone have a talented pianist trapped in a cupboard who records a backing track for performances?

I'm a comedy act, so it doesn't have to be high quality.

    Have an ace day

    Thanks

    Sian/Mme Myfanwy

I've got a question about background music too - hopefully not hijacking your thread, sianyb!

Is there some kind of Performing Rights fee to pay or permission to gain to use music in an act?

If you are performing at a club / bar/ theatre then it's likely the venue will have a PRS ( performing rights society ) license and therefor covered for music you would use. They should have a sticker displayed somewhere. If it's a church hall or community centre type place , then you might have to check.
    Hope that helps.
