Model Mayhem
Hi folks, just after a bit of advice please..............
I have recently been involved in a few photoshoots which, despite my initial reservations, REALLY enjoyed and was very pleased to get lots of fantastic, positive feedback from the photographers too. It was suggested that I should put a profile on the Model Mayhem website and get more photographic experience / work.
I am not at all naive, and know that as a size 14 / 16, 37 year old mother of 3 I am unlikely to earn much (if any) money from this, but I'm very interested in the idea of working with other photographers and building up a portfolio. I LOVE my day job and have no intentions of giving that up but am very keen to persue this avenue if at all possible.
So, I just wondered who, if anyone, on here has a profile with model mayhem / purestorm and how has it worked for you???
Thank you
kisses

I have with Model Mayhem, Pure Storm and Net Models. Most of my photos have been taken from photographers on Model Mayhem, which I much prefer. I've have had really good experiences with all photographers from there.
Just make sure you check them out thoroughly and all should go swimmingly

I use model mayhem and have gotten a bit of work through it, even going to be published in a breast cancer awareness book in the future
I've been contacted by numerous people for paid and unpaid work so its really nice (esp the paid!
)
Just make sure you are safe about who you work with, I've ran into some creeps :ill: already during my short time there, usually just asking a few questions about a shoot will weed those out tho! ("Can I bring an escort?" no, "I do not shoot full nudes" you don't have to show your face "Can we meet before hand in a public place?" Why don't you trust me? - those are some of things I have gotten on there. )

As I believe you to be local, one of our official event photographers Sally Rose has a particular interest in doing shoots with burlesque artistes and she is an excellent photographer, example is attached. She may well be interested in doing a portfolio shoot for you on a TFCD basis.
Her website is www.sallyrosephotography.co.uk & email is sally_1781@hotmail.com she is Nottingham based.

Thanks Jules,
I am most certainly local (Nottingham / Derby area) and will contact Sally to see if she is interested. Thank you for her details.

I'm on ModelMayhem, not as a model obviously but under designer. I haven't been there long but I'm amazed at the amount of approaches I've had. Granted a lot can be weeded out (I'm not sending free corsets to the other side of the world for instance - I fell for that one a long time back, ripped off by Suicide Girls, but I was green and stupid). However I've made some excellent contacts so it's definitely worth it.
Can I say to anyone joining MM though, please make sure your details are as full as possible (within the bounds of safety of course), especially with the location. The search system on there is a total pain in the arse! I've found Glasgow models by searching the whole of the UK who don't show up under Glasgow. It must be losing them work.

I'm a member on MM, NM & PS.
I have had the majority of my shoots from Netmodel, with Purestorm coming 2nd but I think that's because of the forums. I have found the forums on MM to be un-necessarily harsh, and difficult to navigate.
The other 2 can be cliquey but its easier to find shoots that are relevant imho. Maybe i'm looking in the wrong place on mm but I don't really use it that much any more.Baby Alexander born 14.09.09 at 09:48am weighing 8lb 9oz - he is gorgeous

Thanks Violet...that's really useful. I've just set up a profile on Model Mayhem which is currently waiting 'approval' but will also investigate purestorm and net models. Might be best not to have all my eggs in one proverbial basket!!!
