    Question Camden Town

Is Camden Town still wonderful and full of alternative vendors? Last time i was there, petitions were going around to save it from being torn down so a shitty mall could be built. *sob* I hope its still there!

I heard about that building a shopping centre thing, but it's the 4th most popular tourist attraction in London. Surely it would be very stupid to get rid of that just to fill it with another HMV, New Look, WHSmith filled shopping centre like you find in every town??? :-?

    Thumbs down

I'm a born and raised Camden rat, and it makes me want to cry to see how much my home has changed over the last 10 years. It all started with some rather chavvy sports shops, star f**ks and a gap store....things have gone down hill. And now the lovely arches are dead too....no more cheap and cheerful retro shopping, or army surplus gear. What a waste. Now Camden is going to be like every other high street in Great Britain. Bah humbug!

    Leave Camden alone!

I still find plenty of cheep army surplus gear there. My other half is into airsoft (u run about in a field shooting one annother with suped-up bb guns) and its the best place for the stuff. Yes Camden has changed alot but still little treasure troves survive such as fairy gothmothers.
I get 1 week a month in England and I always sped at least 1 day in Camden, yes it is depressing that we are now cramed just around the stables and not a gothy shop to be seen in the highstreet BUT something is better then nothing and I still find Camden far better then most of the UK for shopping for alternaive attire....Mainly SHOES! hehe.

My problem with Camden is how 'samey' it's all become. Every time I went into a shop I felt like i'd already been in it :-?

Yeah i think its really upsetting how much camden is changing. If the plans do go ahead to turn the stable market into a shopping center i will certainly be taking a trip up there in all my finery to protest and chain myself to buildings as im sure many many others will to. Christ sake are there not enough topshops and boots in london already let alone the rest of the country, argggg!

I think the Camden is one of the most amazing places to shop in the whole world, you can literally find an outfit for any occasion within a couple of hours. THe Vivienne of Holloway shop just over the river does the most amazing dresses ever, they're stunning.

Long live Camden Town! And that's saying a lot coming from a Northerner!

I spent ages trying to find that bloody shop! Could they not have warned us that the shop is disguised as a garage????

hehe, a rare find I guess! It's nice that it's kinda disguised though, or else everyone would know about it, and then it would be ever so slightly less fabulous!
