The Jessica Glasscock book on Striptease is great - well researched and beautifully presented.
It depends on what you are looking for too though. My burlesque book library also has all sorts which are not specifically to do with the American burlesque:
The Burlesque Comedies of Aristophanes
Burlesques: William Makepeace-Thackeray
Burlesque plays of the 18th Century
Queen of Burlesque - Lydia Thompson, Biography
Madame Vestris and Her Times
Madame Vestris: A Theatrical Biography
Gilbert & Sullivan: A Dual Biography
Blue Ribbons and Burlesque (A book of country fairs)
Various reprints of scripts of classical and musical burlesque (Kessinger) Kessinger Publishing - Rare Reprints of Hard to Find Books
This is a great book on musical-comedy and burlesque - http://apps.facebook.com/facebookshe...-and-burlesque
various out-of-print publications too:
Victorian Popular Music
The Can-Can
Les Folllies Bergere
For fun fiction, I recommend Immodesty's [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tease-Immodesty-Blaize/dp/0091930014"]Tease[/ame] novel

I know what you mean Ruby, I want to own all of those eventually - Beatrix you couldn't perhaps nominate 5 or so must reads or favourites from that list to get us started (and for me to put on my Christmas wish list) could you?

Well, of that list, I've enjoyed:
Burlesque and the New Bump-n-Grind (Michelle Baldwin)
Velvet Hammer Burlesque
Horrible Prettiness: Burlesque and American Culture
...but I'd also recommend
