Im new here!
Hello, I just thought that I would introduce myself, Im Scarlette LaMonte.
Im from Melbourne, Australia and new to the world of burlesque!!
Im from a music theatre/jazz singing background.
Since joining yesterday I have found so many interesting and informative posts on so many subjects concerning burlesque and its got me very excited about this community that is continually growing and seems quite supportive!
Eeek I hope this is somewhere near the right section to post in, im still working my way around the site.
I would love to hear from any other burlesque songbirds and anyone who can offer me any advice for a beginner from a theatre performance background or for a friendly chat!

Hi Scarlette (i love the name). Welcome, we are a very friendly bunch and you'll find a lot of fun and frolicks on her, as well as serious issues and advice.
No subject is banned (as far as i know) although it's generally not polite to talk about money. Having said that there is a really good thread last month about suggested pay rates if you do a search.
Also it's not wise to bad mouth people or performances, without very good reason, but that is pretty much commen sense.
Don't be scared to ask for advice, from little things like where to buy glitter to bigger things like props and acts. It's always good to search your topic first because it has most probably been asked before.
If you are replying to a thread just be careful not to hijack it, i.e turn the thread away from it's original focus. I've been there and done that by accident in the early days.
These are not death sentense offenses or anything but i thought i'd share my experience and mistakes with you.
Most of all enjoy, make friends and get ready to enter the wonderful world of burly.
