    Default Dress doesn't fit...

Ok, so I got a bootiful Rockabilly style swing dress for an upcoming Burlesque event; made of silky material and consequentially very un-stretchy...

    It doesn't fit.

I have 3 weeks...the bigger size would look huuuuuge as there's only max an inch in it by the waist ribbon. Any ideas? Gym is first on the agenda but I need some serious ideas here...

And feeling pretty glum about it; guess it's my own fault for hopping unintentionally off the Weight Watchers wagon; was soooo looking forward to this dress too and now feel poo.

how about Gok Wan's amazing curve controller body suit or.... esbelt corsets E B B Distribution Limited

Lots of trannys use the esbelt corsets as it holds everything in and gives them a waist....

hope this helps...... and its a bit easier than the gym....

I would see how much material you have at the seams to let it out. Going w/the larger size and taking it in is far easier however. Not sure of the design, but you may also be able to insert panels for a bit more breathing room. It's hard to tell with no pics, but it'll be a project if you're going to take a needle to it.

Where abouts is it too small, the waist? Post a photo so we can see it..maybe a corset underneath to pull you in a bit?

i've got an esbelt and it is amazing, i got mine from Esbelt Shapewear

not sure if you can get it cheaper than that, ebay might be a good place to look. obviously it can't give the same amount of reduction that a corset can but it does make a difference to my waist/tummy. the only thing i would say is to perservere with it! it took me about 2 or 3 attempts to close it and it can feel a wee bit uncomfy but not unbearable. oh and cos it's made from rubber you sometimes feel too warm lol!

    Dear Kari

Please stop feeling bad. It's not you, it's them. Honestly.

I once completely confounded the shop-assistant by buying a size 8 skirt and a size 16 dress, in the same clothing range. I'm blessed with curves -particularly in the bust ( 30H, if we're getting personal). The skirt was perfect; the dress needed major surgery - but at least it gave me enough length and width over the bust as a starting point.

Ladies : always always buy according to your biggest asset, be that bum, tum or tits. Most commercially-made garments have very small seam-allowances, so it's difficult - if not impossible - to let things out. Plus if you want to get a garment properly fitted it's much easier to see what's going on if it fits properly around the biggest area - if you don't it pulls in all the wrong places and just creates more problems.

I know it's really hard to buy something that sounds huge - it makes you feel fat. But honestly, it's the only way.

Then find yourselves a good dress-maker. And that doesn't mean someone who knows how to use a sewing machine. It means someone who can fit: i.e. pin in the extra fabric over you smaller bits, not give you some waffle about letting seams out.

    Trust me!

    All luck!

    Hello

Where exactly is the dress too small?

As everyone is right some shapewear could pull you in in the right places.

Also this is going to sound horrible, but I don't know if you watched Gok Wan,when the woman tried out various weith loss things and there were things like a stomach massage to make you...go to the loo to put it nicely which helped her shed some extra weight but in a natural way. Or there are wraps you can get, like they wrap you up that drop you a dress size. It dont know how ong it last for but it could do you for the night I would think, plus some shape wear?

I would only recommend these as I don't think any crazy diets, starving yourself or pills would be safe or worth it!

    Hi everyone

Thanks so much for the messages with advice and support. I was feeling a bit down in the dumps last night when I posted; mainly because my weight loss had gone so well recently with a lot of things being a dress size smaller and this just knocked my confidence back a bit...

It's too small around the waist band (just by the waist ribbon) - will try to post pics when I can of it; but if it helps it's a Hell Bunny 50s style swing dress.

I had *just* eaten some (well, alot) of stodgy pasta when I tried it on so wasn't feeling my most svelte anyway. Think some sensible eating before the event might help and i'll try it on again next week to see if there's been any change (water retention, and stuff might play a part) and if nothing else, might try my corset or similiar.

Thanks so much, I knew that if I posted on here there'd be loads of lovelies able to help, as always.

    xx

P.S. I shall be sure to let you know how it goes...
