Thread: Hats and Hat Bases

Hi Everyone,
I'm after a massive Edwardian Hat for an act. Does anyone know where I could get a hat BASE rather than a ready made one? So I can stick my own feathers etc on it? I've found some cool hats, but most are in America and not cheap!

Maculloch and Wallis (MacCulloch & Wallis) do milinery supplies. They might have what you need.

I think Maccullochs only sell millinery supplies : blocking net, wire, domette, crin etc, rather than ready-blocked capelins.
For ready-blocked, try The Costume Store in Lewes, near Brighton. They carry a small range of ready-blocked felts and straws, and will make something up for you to trim, as well, although that sort of thing I doubt they will carry in stock.
If not I could recommend a couple of London-based theatrical milliners who would probably be prepared to just block you a shape.

Edwardian hats are pretty damned big, though!
