Showgirl headpiece type thing wanted for a quick borrow!
Hello monkeys,
I have a ridiculously complex and silly photoshoot planned with one of your number, and we need some showgirly accessories...one of those gorgeous big crazy feathery headpieces, maybe even some kind of cape? The headpiece is the key thing though.. Wondered if any of you lovelies might have one I could borrow for an evening.. silver or white ideally..
I'm in London, so it'd probably be best if you were too. You will be thanked profusely and bought a cupcake or similar carb-based snack.
anyone? anyone? beuller?
Any help taken gratefully

Hey I don't have one, but in Clapham Junction at Party Superstore they did have some head-dresses (downstairs in the hire part), I don't know if that's any help? x

If you want a serious Crazy Horse/Lido de Paris fuck-off type thing that looks the real deal and can also be made to stay on your head, you probably need to hire. If they are any good they weigh a ton and cost a lot.
Angels - NOT the Shaftesbury Avenue branch, which is just fancy dress and therefore naff naff naff, but the main house which is now somewhere near Hendon; or Academy Costumes in SE1 ( cheaper, nicer people, easier to deal with.) One or other of them may have the original Maria Bjornsson costumes from the London production of Follies, and of Ziegfield from the Palladium, too. Angels might just still have some of the original Bermans and Nathans' stock ( they supplied to the Windmill). You may need to use a bit of professional chutzpah/grandness to convince them that you want the thing for a professional photoshoot and not some bankers' fancy-dress party, but this is the way to go.
Don't bother with trad fancy-dress shops - if you want decent photos you need a proper headdress, with serious crystals ( which will light properly), not some panto-shop approximation.
Also worth trying are the National costume store in Kennington - really nice people and good value, but not sure what they might have in stock for that kind of thing : everything they have is from previous Mational productions, and I can't think of anything that the RNT has done using that kind of stuff.
I would guess you're looking at about £40 plus Vat for a 2-day hire, but worth it.
The only artist I've ever seen wearing something of the type is Immodesty Blaize - these things cost a fortune to have made, but for pictures More is More.
PM me if you need any more info.

I really want to get a massive showgirl headresss made. I loved the one immodesty had made that is featured in her film.
I guess if you had access to someone who is able to welt ornate metal work they could create something similar if you had measurements. then it could be customised with crystals!
Good luck with the hire!Hettie Heartache - www.hettieheartache.co.uk ~ www.facebook.com/hettieheartache
