Makeup and wig help
Hi Girls,
I am looking for some makeup and wig styling help.
Cards on the table: I am a cross dresser recently having found a spiritual home in Burlesque. I am also getting on a bit ..
. Tho that doesn't stop me from getting "out" and pulling the corset on for Burlie nights
Wont bore you here with my history (feel free to PM me always happy to answer questions).
Back to the plot . . .
Where can I get some help to do a "Vintage" / Burlesque make-up and putting my wig in a good style? I am not expecting it for free (unless someone wants to practice lol).
I can travel, but am based in NW London.WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Hi hun,
I have been teaching myself a little wig styling and might be able to help in that department, depending on what you need. Is it general wig styling tips you were after or are you wanting to turn a specific wig into a particular style? If it's the latter post up a pic of the wig (or of a similar one from online) and a pic of what you want to do with it and I'll see if I can help.
If it's more general wig styling tips you want try the wig forum on cosplay.com they are a mine of information.
Hope this helps!

Sweet of you - thanks.
I have recently purchased a long wig and want an "updo" ... trouble is .. as it is a wig it is hard to disguise that it IS a wig!
I'm trying to look sophisticated lol ... I wish!

When you say updo, do you mean naturalistic and subtle like this : http://www.celebrity-hair-styles-mag...irstyle-01.jpg
or more flamboyant and draggy like this: http://i8.ebayimg.com/02/s/000/77/65/badc_1.JPG
In theory both are probably acheivable at home but they require different techniques.

Hi.
Annabelles wigs are great (I say this to everyone who asks about wigs on here!) They do have some up dos, but I've never had one of them.
I wear wigs a lot, and hair pieces all the time and have used various different ones in the past and I like Annabelles because they are 'sewn' to hang like real hair, they have partings that look real, and fringes that look real. They also have enough hair at the back, not just loads sticking out all over the place at the front!
I suppose for an up do I might get a long wig and pin it up myself, leaving some pieces down at the back to hide the end of the wig on the neck. I might also use clip in extensions, to add to the height and pin the wig hair around.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on! xxx

hello... did you send me an email yesterday??.... if it is you.. I hope you got my reply.
Let me know if you see anything you like or would like any advise. Although, I have to bow to the wig styling knowledge of Emerald Ace she is a bit amazing! And I do have to totally agree with her, the cosplay website is fantastic, they really do have information about any and every aspect of wig styling / dying / cutting...
